Grant:reginos:Similarly, the contemporary GT3 for reasons we all know cannot be tiny and puristic like a 70s 2.7 RS
That's why it's necessary to have both
Indeed
The interesting colour scheme of the replica is of your own design or it has ever been used by Porsche?

Sidney:My GT3 Touring spec so far ... quick and dirty PS job (rear wing deleted):
Any thoughts?
... my 2nd choice on those days with less courage :
... but so many chalk GT3s around already .... what looks better?
--Remove the black stone guard and add a Ducktail spoiler. Both colours are suitable.

bluelines: Grant, is your house PTS Mint Green?
That's actually a neighbor across the street (lots of crazy colors in this old Victorian style neighborhood). I think my house has a touch of PTS Aubergine like my old (departed) 73 911S 2.4:
18 GT3 Manual, 73 Carrera RS 2.7 Carbon Fiber replica (1,890 lbs), 06 EVO9 with track mods. Former: 16 Cayman GT4, 73 911S, Two 951S's, 996 C2, 993 C2, 98 Ferrari 550, 79 635CSi

No, I didn't build this car. The dark gray parts of the car are actually clear lacquered carbon fibre and the guy who built it came up with this paint scheme. He wanted to show off the carbon body parts without making the cut lines between the carbon and steel parts too drastic. It was never done by Porsche, but one of the Porsche family members (I think Peter?) gave it an informal approval at a big Porsche Parade in Florida while the guy was driving it to me (from Quebec).
You can see the weave when you get close like here:

Enmanuel:IMO the black side guard and the door decal together can be a bit much. I'd say the side guard is more in keeping with the spirit of the touring.
My thoughts exactly. The stone guard YES. Door decal not so much. - is there maybe a bigger and more bold version of that door decal? Not that this would look better, it is just that the door decal seems like a baby version of the original. Then again it may be the same size so we are back to Whoopsy keenly observing the bloat in the waist.

Color is of course a matter of personal taste. I personally think red is a “hot” color And feels even hotter with black contrasts. It also limits your interior color. Also, the Porsche side lettering is a bit too retro for me. Recently saw a dark gray GT 2 RS which looked great. Had a burgundy interior.👍

Otherwise, nice color and nice car.

bluelines:Grant:Joost:Grant:nberry:The car just doesn't look like an expensive sport car.
The reason the GT3 model exists is not to look expensive. It's a race car for the road (or some will say I have it reversed) that is meant to give extreme driving satisfaction and performance with incredible race track endurance (shouldn't break or get easily worn from extreme use).

I agree with Nick though, the new GT3 just is not a good looking car, as most versions before it have.
I don’t think it’s particularly pretty either, but hopefully there’s som Form Follows Function going on there...
You think that black plastic improves drag? Like a golfball
Thinking back over all the GT3's I've owned - the 996s were pretty unattractive, but reminds me of my 3 996 GT2's which at the time looked cohesive and racy, and then the 997 GT3 was good looking and led to the 997 GT2: compact, clean, simple yet racy looking - the pinnacle of understated Porsche perfection. I liked the 3 991 GT3s I owned and thought. the .2 was decent looking.
Then came the GT2RS: flamboyant, overstated boy racer, which of course performed to Grant's form follows function comment, but waayyy over the top, embarrassing to drive on the street. You can see the progression from that to the 992 GT3, the same but now morbidly obese. Just imagine how ridiculous the 992 GT2RS will be
