    2005 Porsche Days Francorchamps

    Just to inform you, for western-European Rennteamers in particular, that the subscriptions to the 2005 Belgian Porsche Days are open since a few days. Anyone interested in tracking his/her Porsche on the mythical F1 circuit of SPA Francorchamps from 20 to 22 May 2005 should check out the following site:

    I'll be driving on saturday 21st May. Maybe we meet on or around the track .

    What a mitical track! Isn't that uphill, wide open throttle, and blind right hander also called "Eau Rouge" because there was a small red tinted river going though underneath that?

    Yepp, Eau rouge is the entry of that track section, Raidillon is the unique uphill corner (entering it you benefit from the compression of the car, after that you feel a certain lift...quite freaky, but so addictive ). Check out the full track plan herewith:

    you always hear about that WOT uphill corner, must be quite an experience

    Is it necessary to install a 5-point harness system if you are going to track your car at this event? Both PCA and POC here in the US require you to install a 5-point harness before you track the car and I am not ready to do that on my car.

    @ fixed wing: Even if it's still far away from May, be advised that places go out rather quickly. This event attracts a lot of Porsche-fans from all over Europe. The sooner you order the better. I would not advise Sunday since the 'parade' eats up 1 driving session of all categories (Fun, Sport, Racing). I'll be in 'Fun' on saturday.

    @ Thomas: looking forward to see you back. Still driving that superb white-red GT3 RS?

    @ V trader: no obligation for any 5 point harness. Just a fit and willing street-911 (oops, forgot to mention there are even 2 runs foreseen for Cayenne's, on Saturday and Sunday ). Furthermore your car should be fitted with 2 towing hooks (front and rear), and you should wear a helmet. That's it! Off course, you may come in a prepared Porsche with slicks and harnesses and all these nice things, but then you can only drive in the 'racing' category.

    Within less than 2 weeks it's happening guys!!!

    For those still hesitating, Saturday is fully booked but there's some places left on friday and sunday.

    To get into proper mental condition, the attached picture may give you an idea of how Formula 1 drivers drive on this track:



    the figures represent respectively (in green)lateral G-force experienced by the driver,(in red) speed in miles/h, (in black: speed in km/h, and the gear selected.

    Compared to that I'm afraid my performance will be ridiculous
