Carlos from Spain:RC:I had a similar experience with mowing my garden, a professional gardener mowed the grass on Saturday morning at 9 am and shortly after, the police was at my house. Luckily, the professional gardener is allowed to mow the grass at 9 am but if I would have done it, it would have been illegal.

There are two Prius in my neighborhood...but also a McLaren 12C Spider, a C63 AMG Coupe BS, a SLS, two Porsche 911, a Cayenne and a couple of motorcycles. Mostly cars like the above though, so you get the point.
The McLaren is parked next to a very very small house in the midst of many small houses. The owner didn't have so much money when he bought that small house but not his wealth has increased substantially and he is looking to move away but real estate prices over here have become insane. He wanted to buy the construction ground next to my house (we get along pretty well and he is a colleague of my wife...) to build a new house but the owner of that ground asked 600(!) EUR per square meter and the ground is 3000 square meter, so...an absolute no go. Now he is looking somewhere else.

There are relatively few mountain or high moor areas where rainwater can be collected into reservoirs in relation to the population and industry which have to be served.
This calls for corresponding measures to make water preparation and distribution as efficient and economic as possible under the given conditions.
I like when you bring specifics about a particular issue which helps understand it better, which is against the current trend of oversimplification.

so true. but in some countries (and you know which ones i mean) religion is used as a convenient tool of oppression (of minorities, intellectuals, gays, women and the general populace). interesting though that in those countries there are groups which ask for still more hardline religious-driven governance. probably oppression calls for more oppression.

Religion needs to be kept private, within your own walls, family and church/mosque/whatever. We are living in the 21st century for Christ's sake.
i have thought so until a few years ago. now the world is clearly rewinding on this. i find it very hard to accept but my predictions are bleak.

The cops in our neighborhood do not write traffic tickets for such minor offenses, parking was never an issue.

Why? So people get to know where I live? There isn't only facial recognition but also geographical recognition.
I can give you an example of two typical house types in my neighborhood:
This is where the middle class lives (actually, the houses really look this way...)
This is where the upper middle class lives...
We have maybe four or five of these larger houses in our neighborhood, the others look like the first photo.

And actually - those connected houses (stapled shoe boxes) you are showing are probably around a Million Euro, right? My wife would say, it is just tasteless and this has nothing to do with money. And people in those houses are having that exact taste, enjoying a life so different from ours. Enjoying cars so different from ours. Enjoying everything so different from us - That's the entire issue!

Well, half of the neighborhood are my wife's patients, so I never had issues with anyone but I am pretty good in reading people and I "smell" them. Also many come to me (or my wife) to gossip about other neighbors and if they do that with us, I am pretty sure that they are doing this about us as well, if you get my point.

They are tasteless but also cheap. No, in my neighborhood one of these connected houses is around 400k, the more luxurious ones up to 600-700k EUR but not more. The most expensive thing in our neighborhood is the property ground. The owner of the property next to us, it is just a field, asked 600 EUR per square meter. This is insane. Of course he couldn't sell for that much money but he tried. Real value is around 400 EUR, maybe 500 if someone badly wants it but never 600.
