    I want to get this item, but am concerned that I would scratch up the roof by not paying enough attention to what I'm doing. Any problem, John? Do you need two people to do it right (put the system on the roof then a bike)?

    No problems at all. I had the same one on my old 996 and not a scratch. I can put it on and take it off without help very easily. This weekend was espescially muddy, so I normally don't have that issue.... but this weekend I just put a blanket on the seat to cover it up after I was all muddy from my ride....

    Now THAT is what a Porsche is all about. Every day kind of utility! A friends dad had a 83 911sc up in CT and used to drive it to go skiing up to VT. Put the rack on the rain gutter on the back.

    Last year I knew a man who uses his 996 GT2 everyday as an only car. He made last year 30.000 kms (without any problem ... of course)

    Actually reminds me of those old photos from the 60s of 911's with ski racks on amazing roads in the alps.
