    F Series 1970 Targa 2.2 E

finally my quest for an F series Targa seems to come to a choice with a good option.

this car is offered to me by Early911's where I have restored and upgraded my 1983 G series Targa SC

its a 1970 conda-green F series Targa 2.2 E basically mechanically and electronically rebuilt with the engine rebuilt to 2.2 S spec. I have the fullest trust in Early911's work and have decided to go for it.

I had also fund a nice looking 2.4 S Targa at a dutch dealer that is completely rebuilt but as I have no experience with them I was hesitant. Car looks good though:

below pics of the car I have decided upon:

will be adding type correct Fuchs wheels, passenger side rear view mirror and Porsche classic radio with navigation.

the next step will be some rally mods to make the car strong enough for less demanding events while staying as stock as possible. so basically unseen mods as underbody protection, removable roll cage monit trip meter and so on.

I was always more into the early G series.....however, it seems with age comes wisdom :)

both have their attraction. the G series as a more sporty and bullish look and the nimble clean lines of the F series.

it really is am sure even when buying unseen.

I have been to the premises several times and the collection of cars they have is absolutely amazing.

definitely worth a visit or a look at the website.

they also returned my 83 targa to as new condition with every nut and bolt on engine and driveline rebuilt and polished.

no cutting corners or covering up things. if its wrong they wouldn't touch it.

great people to deal with as well.

am not affiliated in any way....just a very happy customer.

That's great!  I have a friend who paid top of the market price for a restored 1970 911S 2.2L Targa from an auction on "Bring a Trailer" and he is stuck with MANY mechanical issues that are going to require an engine rebuild and gearbox work at a minimum.  Was represented as perfect.

Buying from a reputable shop sounds like a far better way to go Smiley

    yes..grant, fully agree.

there are so many rubbish cars out there, easy to burn your fingers.

I always rather buy from a reputable place that wants to build a customer relation.

it's called lipsticks and mascara tactics. Mechanical stuff can't be seen on pictures alone.

especially with cars as the 911 that are in very high demand and command a premium. everyone wants to make a quick buck...

that's why I basically only look at places that have been doing these cars for years and have a good reputation. and I do not see it as more expensive, I see it as better quality.

that '72 2.4 s Targa oelklappe in holland looks great and I had made contact. but then backed off as while very tempting, I just couldn't feel sure about it.

    And demands regular tuning 😁

Congrats on the beautiful purchase. The color suits the car well. Nearly a shame to change anything on it.
