    Planning on a 997S, just checked out a Ferarri

    Before taking the plunge on 997S I've been shopping around a little bit. I went to see this 1991 flat 12 Ferarri Testarossa. Guess what guys? I didn't fit in it. Was a shocker to find out no matter how I adjusted things my head still hit the roof liner and shins hit the dash. Walked away thinking Enzo doesn't care if you fit or not, "you don't fit you don't buy!"

    A very qualified person, one who knows the whole premium performance car game, and one quite impartial to my cause gave me an important clue. When I told him I was considering pre-owned Ferrari he said to me very compassionately, "You don't want a nightmare."

    Back safely in the Porsche 997/S camp. Wheeeew. If I had gotten comfortable in that car... .

    Get a newer F-car.(in addtion to the 997S) I've had zero problems with my '01 360F1. Knock on wood

    I had an 02 360 F1 cab, with zero problems. If you have your heart set on a Ferrari, check out the newer models, they are a great improvement, even over the 355.

    I should have made clear I only want to spend us$100K or fewer. My "advisor" was aware of this. Not sure if his comment was a reference to "all" i.e newer Fcars. Sorry for the possible misunderstanding.

    testarossa's are pretty cool! I have driven one just a little bit and ferrari's are def. cool, although a testarossa wouldnt be my choice of a ferrari, its a bit to "big" for me in many ways

    I don't like the testarossa. Mondial is worst though.
    Never the less If you wanna look like Don in Miami Vice, that's the car to go for.

    I just was always moved by how Baaaaaaaaaad the car looks. I mean it's one of the most outrageous of the Feraris and it's "affordable." When you get passed and see incredible rear end; it's just a thrill.

    Maserati , Ferrari , Alfa Romeo , have increased and improved the reliability and sturdiness of their motors.
    The italian mito is not like some years in the past

    In some aspects they have definately improved a lot but I doubt that they are on-par with German brands when you consider it as a whole. The 360 is definately very reliable, for a Ferrari.

    Still the user-frienliness of the Porsche is unbeaten and in my eyes it strongly depends where you're living.

    You are correct.
    they improved a lot but not at the same reliability as german brands.
    we have to say that german brands aren't as they used to be in the past..
    BMW , Mercedes ... etc have lots of problems....
