    cjv's monster turbo.....continued

    RC,

No problem, I appreciate the excellent service you provide to all of us. Should have pics of the new 2400 degree ceramic coated headers shortly. We now have all the parts we have been awaiting. We expect to make a dyno run early next week. We are looking toward approx. 600 HP to the rear wheels. RC, what do you think of the 80mm intakes?

Well, Chad...as you can imagine, I'm more than impressed. Thanks for sharing your dream with us.

    More pictures

Here are the pictures of the S Car Go prototype 2400 degree ceramic coated headers. Wow.

    Re: More pictures

    RC,

Thanks for posting the header pics for me. These headers were prototyped for me by S Car Go Racing www.scargoracing.com . I can tell you these headers have made a big difference in throttle response. Will have a dyno report sometime next week. They definitely retain heat in the exhaust. After a hard run you can comfortably place your hands within a half inch (13mm) of the headers. Your fan runs less, engine compartment is cooler resulting in cooler intake air. The heat goes out through the turbos and out the exhaust, hopefully resulting in additional power.

    Re: More pictures

    RC

I am so excited. I just received unbelievable news from Rob King at S Car Go Racing. They car was dyno'ed.........

    624.8 REAR WHEEL HP

    608 FOOT POUNDS TORQUE

    Re: More pictures

So Chad, great news, glad to hear you got such good results. I saw a posting of yours on rennlist (See Stage XXX on 996 turbo Rennlist) where you had a little table of horsepower and torque but nothing like these numbers. Was this a step function increase or have you been putting in lots of other changes since that rennlist posting? I'm just curious if the new headers were really responsible for this "jump" in horsepower.

    thanks,

    Brooks

Now let us know us know what fun things you do in this beast... like your time to 0..300kph and what not...

    Re: More pictures

    Brooks,

The following was performed since the last dyno run of 564 hp.
The ECU map was modified, the headers were 2300 degree ceramic coated, the exhaust ports were ported 4mm, the secondary injector controller was changed.

We are now going to do more ECU map adjustments and add a larger fuel pump. Current pump is stock and now not providing enough fuel. Next dyno run next week. Hoping to see 650 RWHP, however with stock internals we are going to take the torque down to about 560 RWT for now.

    Re: More pictures

Chad, is it correct, that 608 pounds mean about 912 Nm (Newton Meters) in Europe????
And is it correct, that 625 RWHP are about 720 hp at the clutch??

You could put this engine into a roadtrain!!

    Your times 0 - 200 and 0 - 300 km/h would be indeed very interesting!

    Regards
    Wolfgang

    Re: More pictures

    Wolfgang,

I have a correction to make. Rear wheel HP was 614.7 not 624.7. This would equal approximately 707 HP at the crank. I might be wrong but I believe 606 lbs/ft torque would be 828 NM.

    Re: More pictures

    Hi Chad,

most powerful 996 TT I heard of til now, is the Gemballa GTR750 with 750 flywheel HP.

Find the missing 44 HP and beat it!!

    Good luck,
    Wolfgang

    Re: More pictures

    P.S.:
After doing some maths in the meantime, I can tell you the following:

    1 Nm = 0,737 lbs/ft
    1,357 Nm = 1 lbs/ft

So you got 822 Nm at your RWs, Chad!

    Re: More pictures

    Wolfgang,

Reports here in America claim the Gemballa EVO 750 has 854 rwhp or about 854 fwhp. If that is true I am way more than 44 hp away. Maybe the 750 GTR and the 750 EVO are different Gemballa cars. We still have .05 bar to play with and there is room for improvement in the air/fuel grid. I believe in the next week or so we will be very close to 650 rwhp. Our current problem is fuel. We are presently looking at ways to deliver more. Any ideas?

    Re: More pictures

    rsv,

    Thanks for the information.

    Re: chad..

please keep us updated about your car reliablity, maybe if everything seem perfect after 20-30K miles. S car go can sell the modification done to your car as a package to me

    Re: chad..

    WILLIAM,

The car is equiped with an adaptive boost controller and duo mapping. It can run at three different levels and can be switched on the fly. Longevity should be good providing I don't get .

    Re: Help Needed!

I need more fuel to the motor. The Porsche 996tt has it's stock fuel pump located in the fuel tank. I have been looking for a larger internal fuel pump without success. If anyone knows of one I would appeciate them sharing this information.

Otherwise, I will install an external racing fuel pump inline with larger 08 fuel teflon fuel line from the tank to the motor.

    Re: Help Needed!

We are going the route of the additional in line racing fuel pump and the stock tank pump. We are also replacing the existing plastic fuel line with a -08 size teflon line. We are scheduling a dyno run for Monday or Tuesday.

Re: We now have enough fuel!

The last dyno run revealed we were running lean above 5900 rpm's. What we did was... The OME fuel tank has a check valve on top. The OME fuel line is a dash 4 size plastic line. We replaced the line from the check valve to the motor with a dash 8 size teflon fuel line. We also located a high volume Bosch inline racing pump to the left of the transmission. This is in addition to the OME pump located in the tank. The stock fuel pressure was 50 psi. After the modifications the pressure was 55 psi with the larger fuel line. We ran the car with a 1.4 bar boost in fourth and fifth gears. The air/fuel mixture was 12.9/1, we now have enough fuel.

Monday we are replacing the prototype metal intake (from the air box to the turbo's) with the same intake in carbon fiber. Should have a dyno run on Wednesday.

Re: We now have enough fuel!

Wow, 1.4 boost? Chad, I thought you were limiting the boost to 1.3 or below to prevent engine wear and tear... Is this no longer true? Just curious.

    Brooks

    Maybe...

...you could tell us something about these new pics, Chad. Impressive, very impressive.

    Re: Maybe...

I'm sorry these pictures don't show more. What I am attempting to show is the S Car Go Racing carbon fiber intakes. They can be seen (not installed) in "cjv's monster turbo.....another image," the thread started Sunday, November 24, 2002. The pictures are the last post in the thread before the thread was "locked."

Pic #1 & 2 show some of the S Car Go Racing carbon fiber pieces up close.

Pic #3 shows the S Car Go Racing carbon fiber intake connecting to the S Car Go Racing turbo's. These turbo's are capable of producing 1.7 bar.

Pic #4 shows the S Car Go Racing carbon fiber intake to the turbo.

Pic #5 shows the S Car Go Racing ceramic coated headers and S Car Go Racing carbon fiber intake.

Pic #6 shows parts of the S Car Go Racing carbon fiber intake.

Pic #7 shows S Car Go Racing carbon fiber intake and their headers.

    * S Car Go Racing can be contacted at 415-485-6026 or E-mail robking@scargoracing.com for any questions about these parts or the car . In the latest dyno run the car produced 614.7 horse power to the rear wheels. Next dyno run now scheduled or this coming Friday (if it does not rain).

    Re: Here we go again....

Last Friday we went for a dyno run. We experienced three blow hoses around the intercoolers. It appears the weak links are surfacing one at a time. We have ordered special new hose for high pressure applicatins. They are available from a company called Belair Composites. As soon as we receive the new hoses we will schedule another dyno run.

    Re: Here we go again....

The intake was re manufacturered so as to eliminate as many hoses as possible. New hoses from Belair Composites were installed along with high performance clamps. The car was test run today and everything checked out. We are hoping for a dyno run tomorrow or Friday.

    Re: Here we go again....

Sorry but the dyno run has been put off until Tuesday. Simply could not get dyno time.

    Re: Here we go again....

We conducted a dyno run but experienced some problems. It appears the two added fuel injectors were causing problems with a sensor. All these parts are located in the S Car Go Racing 80 intake "Y" which is located before the throttle body. The injectors are going to be relocated after the throttle body in the 80 mm S Car Go Racing Splitter. Another dyno run has been scheduled for this coming Wednesday.

    Re: Here we go again....

I apologize for the delays. We did not receive the ECU back from Protomotive. It is now due tomorrow and a dyno run has been re scheduled for this coming Wednesday.

While we were waiting a Spa Technique AFFF fire surpression system and Ruf short shifter has been added.

    Re: Here we go again....

Chad - I don't mean to be rude (and don't answer if you feel the question is innappropriate), but how much have you invested in that monster?

    Re: Here we go again....

    Grant,

I paid an MSRP of just under $150,000. I have put about another $160,000. into the car. Of this amount about $30,000. was wasted on re doing things twice and sometimes more. I wouldn't consider it an investment. An addiction would be more like it.

On a better note, it is what I wanted. The car Porsche would never build or sell. Like other special cars I own, I will never sell it.

    Re: Here we go again....

Well, that's certainly a uniquely fantastic ride! Have you been approached by any magazines for an article?

    Re: Here we go again....

Grant, I have been approached by three. Problem has been finishing the car. This coming Saturday one editor wants to have it run in a certain event. Problem is I am awaiting the return of the ECU with further mapping.

Oh well, whatever happens....happens. Life is too short to worry about it.
