I was interested in a Nardo Grey Audi RS6 Performance but kind of hated how this car looked in photos (see photo).
I showed the photo to my wife and she went like "hell no...". This was my only color choice since it was a special offer from a local dealer.
When we went for a test-drive, I was positively surprised. Same goes to my wife. The color was actually very nice, some sort of pastel grey, very nice looking in real life and very special. Not flashy of course but also not as boring as I imagined it.
Colors need to be seen live...

This is a wonderful color for the Audis 
I am always positively impressed when seeing one of these on the street.

I like the color but it doesn't seem to go well with all that chrome and silvery stuff...

This color would go much better with black exhaust pipes, black window frames, black headlights and titanium wheels.

And black body panels? 
Actually, it looks much better in these last photos in sunlight. A bit retro, particularly with the chrome, but that's really just a personal preference. But, it might look nice with black window frames, and black headlights, etc. (It looks like it already has the tinted taillights, which seems an odd choice without the black headlights.)

I can understand (I think) what some people see in this color. Depending on light conditions, it can at times be quite attractive (in a beer glasses wearing way). My only thought is that if I had this color on a car of mine, I would be depressed after the first week of ownership.

Depends where you live... 
If you want to have a special color but you can't go flashy, this is it. Minus all that chrome stuff of course.

I usually don't comment on colors i don't like because I don't like to rain on anyone's parade, but I got to say that this to me is one of the ugliest colors I have seen for the 911. It's like the color that is left after a painter is done washing the brushes, its like if it was painted in blue with a cheap paint that was left out in the sun and all the color was washed out, its like the car was primed but hasn't gotten painted yet... Ok, I'll stop now, this is why I don't comment on colors 
and I realise color is something so subjective, I see no problem if the owner likes it though

You are not qualified to comment on this color since you own a car with a flashy color. 
Your car is of course much more beautiful but this is not the point here. If someone wants a less flashy color but still wants to attract some attention, I think this is one of them. Not that I would choose this color for a 911 though, I like colors like simple black, red, white or yellow much more.

The carmín red fits the gts very well but if it is very flashy, true, you have to be willing to live with that.
But if it don't want a flashy color I would take a black color over this, or a dark blue like blueline's ex-C4S which was discreet but beautiful combo. But then again it's so subjective I can see others liking it though, even if to me this London overcast color is were photons go to die

Technically, I believe the problem is the opposite.

Saw this exact color at the dealer yesterday. I did not like it, it is not boring but it is very sad and just doesn't really know what it wants to be. It is not bland like black silver or white but it is not flashy either. Plus it doesn't fit a sport car, maybe on a Cayenne or Panamera, but not on a 911...

I think a Panamera or Cayenne may be too large for a color like Graphite Blue. (Cayenne definitely, Panamera probably.) Colors like this, as well as loud flashy colors, only work well in my opinion on smaller cars. On larger vehicles, it becomes somewhat garish, and visually just too much. For a 911 or 718, it's a color very much dependent on personal taste. It's sort of retro, although not entirely, which some people like and others hate. I like it, except in the one pic above where it seems very washed out where it looks awful: not blue at all, and not a nice gray at all either, but maybe that was what the camera saw, not the eye.

nberry:Once he gets a commission number he should give you the particulars. Once locked (it means the factory will not accept any changes in the order) the car is usually built within two weeks to three weeks.
Regarding color, about 35% of all Porsche's on the road today are silver. Personally, I would opt for a more exciting and distinguishing exterior color. You're buying a sport car and not a naval ship.
But if you're stuck with silver, play with the configurator. A blue or black interior would work well. Porsche has new interior color I believe graphite and blue (?) you might want to check.

Exciting enough here - Almost 100 percent of our new Ps are ordered silver, but rhodium. The gt3 and 4 we had no interior choice but black. In the macan turbo, we did the tan leather and it looked great. Nicks suggestions are worth checking.
We like monochromatic cars (our 991s cab is triple dark blue) but go see a grey interior if possible, especially used. It has a tendency to wear poorly. But colours are subjective and you need to please yourself

Motor Trend just released their take on the 991.2; this time using the base spec Carrera (not the S) to see if the simplest 911 is now the most "pure". Jason Cammisa also delves seriously into the lag issue, and both he, and Randy Pobst on track, make the point that as long as you are higher in the rev range (>3000 rpm), the extra lag induced by the turbos is not noticeable - lower in the rev range it is, but as Pobst notes - the old Carrera developed little power down there anyway. Overall a very positive review from someone who admitted to being a purist and turbo-skeptic.

Progress marches on. In a couple of models the turbo will be sorted out and the 9xx runs circles around the 991.1 (or the latest generations of gizmos will be so cool that no one will care about a 10 year old car).
Yet for my toy car I have settled on passing on the turbo California T and look to upgrade my 09 by a n/a 2014

You may know as you're in the California market - how is the T selling? See lots of pre-T models around presumably off-lease.

The T is selling fine, same as before the T. I see quite a few very recent ones on the market though for high asking prices... Pretty big price gap between a 2014 and a 2015 T but somehow small gap between a 2010 and a 2014, strange knowing that the 2013-14 models had 30 more hp and were lighter. I was hoping to pay $50k to jump from the 09 (13k miles) to a 2014 with some warranty left and 7 year service included...
