Re: 992 GT3 Touring...
Targa Tim:Gnil:I wanted him also to learn manual properly, with the driving instructor. Not just vaguely later on.
Tough Dad
I got my driver license 37 years ago learning automatic.
Then borrowed a friend's manual Honda civic and learned manual myself within 30 minutes.
Now I track my manual RS in advanced level group.
I found it much easier to drive a manual car, then manually shift a PDK car, which I have to keep checking the screen which gear I'm in.
Even when I was racing, I never had a need to look at the display to figure out which gear I am in. The engine note and the view out front is enough information, the rate of acceleration you get when you put your foot down is very distinct between gears. Counting how many times I pulled the paddles also helps, heavy braking on the longest straights and pulling left paddle 4 times means I am in 2nd. on exit right paddles a couple times means I am in 4th, left again it's 3rd, right right right I am right back at 6th. Eyes never left the front view and hands never left the steering wheel, fully in control.
So easy, so simple, so intuitive.
