Polar Silver is not a standard available color for 05 but it should be available as paint to sample if you care to wait an additional 3-6 mo $4315
Artic Silver is an Optional Metallic Color for 05 $825
GT Silver is Special Paint for $3070
See them in person and make your own decision, silvers abound in CA

I have polar on my 996.
I love it because it has shades of light blue the other grey colors don't have.
Ask CR, his Turbo is also polar and I believe he's very happy with it.
One good think about it is that is very rare on 996/ 997 and as a result quite exclusive I guess.
It was what Porsche calls a "Special color" on the 996 option list too. And it was quoted 4 to 6 months additionnal delivery time but I got my car in 4 months all together, demand was quite high too as it was one of the first facelift 996 models.
As for interior color, mine is metropole blue which works great because it recalls the blue shades from the exterior color, but I guess black or grey interiors would work fine too.

Interesting. Car looks lovely Tpup. Would this be a fair summary of the shades of silver offered by Porsche:
- Arctic Silver - standard. Availability: Immediate. Price: $825.
- GT Silver - special paint. Availability: 4 - 6 weeks. Price: $3,070.
- Polar Silver - paint to sample. Availability: 4 - 6 months. Price: ?

I saw a GT Silver Carrera S the other day. I think it looked way better than Arctic Silver. I have had Arctic Silver (996C4) and Polar Silver (993 & 993C4). I agree with Fanch on the nice blue tint in the Polar Silver. That being said, the GT Silver looked extremely good. My 997S is Seal Grey, which I like after many silver cars of Porsche and other makes.

I am just a French student who is fund of cars and whose favorite Auto makers is Porsche for the moment.
I've read you guys for several months now but I never post since I don't own any Porsche and I have even never driven one.
I just would like to know what do you think the color of the Carrera S in the following pictures is, since the Carrera looks like Artic Grey (or white ?) to me and I can't guess which grey is on the Carrera S.
All I can say is that it is darker than the Carrera.
