I think you guys are missing the point. The seats fold down, I believe, so you need something there to make it flat. You don't want a giant, uneven gap there. It's merely a bonus that it's padded and someone could sit there.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

No, the point is that is not even a +1 seat, they just padded the space between the two rear seats behind the central tunnel.added a hip seatbelt and called it a +1 seat.... its more like a +0.1 seat

I understand your logic, but having an option to squeeze someone in for short distance legally is better than no option at all.

I cannot do this with the old panamera.  Need to pre-plan whether to take the cayenne or panamera depending on whether the kids want to invite extra friends over, and they always change their mind.

Yeah right, try bending your back when you're putting a heavy baby up high to reach the middle seat. Even in the regular Pana it's a pain in the *** sometimes to even buckle them up on the doorside... enlightened

True...if this place would be certified for a baby/child seat. As far as I remember, most cars have only the left and right rear seats certified for baby/child seat usage. The middle seat isn't certified for that use. I could be wrong with the new Panamera though, didn't really check on it.

It is actually a RS7 Performance, not the regular RS7 and this car is fast as hell. It is almost 7 seconds faster from 0-300  kph than the RS6 Performance due to better aerodynamics. Pretty impressive for a sedan. I just hate it's looks. Smiley

The center seat is seldom used for more than short trips, whether there is a center console or not. No one is regularly sticking 3 people in the back seat of a sedan for any meaningful length of time. I'd rather have the option to have an extra person sitting there for 10 minutes than just not being able to use it at all.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

I agree about having the option, but would like to know if having the seat impinges upon any console options--4 zone climate control, cupholders, etc. Anybody know?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Seems like no options for the rear console are available, back seat the same regardless.

Smiley Pretty fast for a sedan. Most 500+hp sedans do 0-300 kph in over 40 seconds.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Absent, if you compare the rear console of the two rear seat Panamera with the 2+1 seat of the ST, you will notice that the two seat version has a console which extends back between the seats, with a panel which opens to provide for cup holders.  The 2+1 does not have that extended console, so presumably fewer cup holders.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

After having seen the new Panamera live at the LA Auto Show and again at the unveiling in Kuwait, I finally got around to visiting the showroom yesterday and sitting inside/interacting with one and found it... sort of negative.

Sat in a Turbo in the showroom floor [which was off, naturally] and found the dark interior beautiful in a very stark and minimal way. I was then given a key to a 4S parked outside so I turned it on and spent about twenty minutes in there fiddling with the touchscreen, console controls and instrument cluster. Having owned a 958 Cayenne, the overall layout is familiar but I was genuinely overwhelmed by everything in there. Some notes:

    • Quality is phenomenal - everything feels expensive, solid and top-shelf.
    • I thought the instrument cluster was fiddly; my past experience with the little scroller on the right side of the Cayenne steering wheel did not apply too well in the Panamera. I saw that the screen on the right would feature the car information [TPMS, temperatures, etc.], G-force meter and all the other bits, but then the entire screen would turn over to the map/night view mode and wipe away the other car information. The scroller on the left spoke - which I used to use for volume - now flipped through different menus on the left screen; I don't like having to repeatedly push/press-and-hold a little +/- button to increase or decrease my audio volume as is the current design.
    • The capacitative center console is cool but - and I could very well be one of the outliers here - I really liked and prefer all the buttons. The console smudges, the clustering of functions takes a little getting used to and I don't like how some of the car setup functions like the exhaust system are now buried somewhere in the main touchscreen. I've driven 970 Panameras and 958 Cayennes extensively and found the layout of all the buttons to be very logical; five minutes in there and the hand would fall to the button without having to poke around looking for it.
    • The central touchscreen is one of the best in the business with regards to resolution and how it interacts/reacts, but I find the menu layout to be confusing and don't like having to sift through multiple sub-areas to find something I'm looking for - i.e. pushing the "Climate" button below the screen and then having to prod the screen to redirect my airflow. That the center screen now also controls the opening and closing of the central vent is a pragmatic nightmare.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned [I'm 28], but as much as I wanted to blindly love the Panamera and everything about it, I think it's got too much technology on the inside. I've read that the old Panamera had about two million lines of programming in it and this one now has over 100 million... and it feels that way.

    Hmm...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Anyone who had the opportunity to testdrive the new Panamera 4 e-hybrid? I'm really curious about the drivetrain and how it compares to the 4S petrol from dynamic perspective. I really liked the 4S when taking it for a spin some time ago, especially when equipped with rear axel steering that really made the car feel more nimble and smaller. I've read some reviews from the journalists test-driving in South Africa, but not so much details about driving dynamics and how much the added weight with the hybrid impact. Read that the brakes did lack a bit of feel due to the regenerative braking and also that Porsche were aware of this problem and told the journalists that they work on the issue and had hopes about fixing it before production start. I assume that this also is a very important thing to fix with the Turbo S.

Also, anyone taken delivery of the new Panamera? Haven't seen any report in here. Is the car just not popular among forum members?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

The Panamera is not popular period. It is expensive and albeit more sporty than the completion, not enough to be in a whole other class, and practicality is limited...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Mine is built week 14 but we will see about the review. After two Turbo S the coming car is a.....diesel!!!angel So in order not to be totally trashed on this forum I might scip the reviewsmiley
