This is ridiculous without explaining in which area you mean.

If you mean suspension , performance , comfort , haptic , electronic, navigation system or assistant systems then you totally wrong.

if you mean ground clearance then you are right

My dealer offers his used (new model!) Panamera Turbo for 162k EUR...with 9k km. Not sure what the new price was but it doesn't sound like much of a depreciation. For now.

The dealer Turbo cars are 180.000 €. So this is exactly 10% off. I bet you would get 6% as a loyal customer, so this extra 4% is it not worth.

I know I know.... heart  But it's hard to be a Porsche fan I Sweden. Just the base version is about 20-30 thousand up from German prices and even more compared to US prices. And this is also true for the extras I.e.horrible pricing in euro in the Swedish market.. The Swedish krona is starting to be like the former lira or drachma, pure shitmail

There are some Swedish guys on this forum, but most of them is far smarter than me and live in Switzerland

And this is just for my cars. I have yet to tell you about how fantastic it is to pay my sons us collage bills in one of the more expensive collages in the states.......laugh

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

    Dallas, SMU

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Never heard of it. Why is it so expensive?

BTW, your son should establish residency and lower his tuition to in-state if he hasn't already.

How do you calculate this? Smiley. The 4S diesel and 4S petrol base price is more or less the same in Germany and Sweden with today's exchange rate. And the hybrid is 8k EUR cheaper (107k EUR in Germany, and 99k EUR in Sweden) Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

I have calculated a 4s diesel with a very good option list around 158.000 € and a 750xd with the "same" options for around 139.000 €.

If you order a Panamera you get 6% discount and the 750xd 25% discount. The calculated value after 3 or 4 years is much higher for the Panamera but BMW bank ignores this and they calculate with more then 50% value after 3 years!!

    Porsche 36 month lease from 148.500 € to 82.160 €
    BMW 36 month lease from 104.250 € to 72.280 €

If you compare the lease than Porsche has always the worst offer, compared to its competition. I wouldnt care what rest value they calculate, go and get a km-based lease and that's it!

Even for less money, the 750xd will be more car for the bucks. The new Seven is a great vehicle, full of high tech and at least one generation ahead of the Panamera. Even the pure driving pleasure isn't different (and I was driving both), while the Bimmer has all those Gizoms!

Well, at least he's going to inherit a fortune from his rich dad indecision

Weird choice though. Why exactly did he want to go to some random college in Dallas? It's ranked only 56th in the country  Dallas isn't exactly the coolest/nicest city in the US. Florida, Southern California, New York, Chicago, Hawaii... can't say Dallas has ever been on my list of places to live haha

Could go to just about any place in the country for half of that. I went to a top 5 engineering school for like $40K all together. Even Princeton, Harvard, Yale, MIT -- some of the best college in the world -- are way less than what you're paying....

I said it before, but the G11 7 series is so awesome to drive, especially for such a big limousine (even with the 30d engine and Sport Mode is a treat even without Executive Drive Pro), and all the tech features are just lovely and work well. I even dig the 7's classic and understated look.

BTW, I've seen the new Panamera (Turbo) on the street for the first time today. Which wasn't easy, I just noticed it because the rear wing was up and I thought "WTF?" (car was parking). Then I noticed the slightly different back. To me it looked nearly identical to the old one, I had to look into the cockpit to make sure it's not Generation 1

Smiley I told you. The street experience is nearly untouched. And the "awesome" rear / rear lights looses its appearance quickly. Here in Stuttgart you are seeing every day dozens of those cars. This, since almost 6 months now. Today I would say, the rear is OK, but nothing special.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

I agree   The outside is nice at the beginning but quickly wears off and looks just like a big limousine. Nothing special.

But the inside is beautiful for a sedan.  Sporty , modern and chic.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Tuition at MIT is ~ $46K for two terms (so Summer session not included, not that MIT has much in terms of a Summer session). Add room and board in the Boston area and you can easily double that if you don't want your son/daughter to have a decent apartment ($3K / mo. easily). Even on-campus housing runs from $900-$1800 / month.

Far cry from when I was a student there. Tuition was about $4,000 per semester!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New Panamera (2016)

Wouldn't be surprised if a huge amount of MIT students have scholarships though. In any case, undergrad isn't very important. An undergrad from MIT is still just some 20 year old with little experience though. PhD programs and alumni access are probably the most important thing about these top tier schools.

I say just get really good grades in a good school and go to a great school for your graduate studies.

BTW, there was an interesting study done regarding the success of Ph.D candidates and graduates. They found finishing at the top of your class is more important than where your class is located, relatively speaking. People at the top of lower tier schools still had more papers published and saw more success than people who were good, but not the best at the top tier schools.

You'd actually be better off being the top student at the U of M than the 5th best student at MIT, even if the performance and talent was identical.

SmileySmiley Thanks, but guess this was pre Trump....

There were good reasons to chose Dallas ( Athletic scholarship). Then his coach got the great ide to visit us here at home. Saw the cars and since then no more scholarship.....Smiley

Saw  the car live first time one week ago on the premiere here in Sweden. Quit nice and a more modern interior. But my girlfriend thought it look like a SAAB from behind.... And it does ! But only the last version of SAAB and they hadn't time to sell that many, so not many people notice the resemblance Smiley

Heard that one of the designers of the new Panamera actually were involved in the SAAB design teamSmiley

Watch out for the 992 looking like a SAAB V4.......Smiley

Yep.... and there we go. Saab - the company which by far had the most ugly cars in there portfolio. And that's why they are broke and vanished Smiley

Are you sure that you are talking about the latest 7 and the latest Panamera? The high tech gizmos in the 7 - useless software tricks to make people say exactly that (wow...the 7 is full of tech!)

Interior - I can't believe that anyone (and actually haven't heard anyone) who sat in the Panamera would even consider to compare it to the 7. I've had 2 BMW's from the previous generation and the new 7 doesn't feel any different.

And the biggest difference - driving pleasure or let's call it driving dynamics (I'll reserve pleasure for cars like the GT3 RS). We are talking different planets here. The 7 is trying to be an S-class, quite successfully I would say. The Panamera can be whatever you want...even if it hides it's speed and dynamics they are there objectively. Tell me that 7.38 Ring time for a 2 t sedan with only 550hp isn't crazy.

Sorry but saying that the Panamera is one gen behind the 7 is BS and the market is voting already. The 7 series sells poorly as reported by financial media and BMW offers huge discounts here and there.

The first reports on the Panamera's demand that I hear are very positive.
