TB993tt:Carlos from Spain:I heard the reason is that any impact on the rear of the car, even a relatively moderate one, can damage the mufflers, manifold and even turbos it the tips that are sticking out of the bumper are physically connected to the exhaust system, because the tips would bear part of the impact are as the bumper will not protect them, and because they are physically connected would transmit the forces up the exhaust system chain. But if the tips are rather embedded in the bumper itself and not physically connected to the muffler exhaust tips then there is less change of this damage and expensive repair costs since the bumper stands in the way before the real exhaust tips are hit.--

This actually happened to me many years ago, I got rear ended but there was little apparent damage. A few weeks later I am driving through Germany on the Autobahn and the exhaust starts getting really noisy I make it to the Munich Porsche centre who kindly take a look for me and it turns out the rear muffler had a large crack in it which was caused by the rear impact on the tip, it needed a new muffler which they managed to supply and fit that afternoon.
This is allegedly the reason why so manufacturers are using false exhaust outlets. The design helps to protect the more expensive mechanical components from damage caused in low speed rear impacts.

I've been told that lately, the fake exhaust outlets have more to do with increased exhaust temperatures...

I know, I'm pushing a friend with an S600 to make that move! I unfortunately lack a few cilinders!

Just a shame the C doesn’t get the MBUX system.
It also packs a little surprise in terms of numbers. 585/850. 🥰

4trac:Another great kamping-wagen.....! Will this one get some upgrades like the previous one?
Reprogramming to give its full potential (585hp and 850Nm), perhaps a bit more noise as it is relatively muted with the OPF, but there's not much available yet for this updated model. And Endless brake pads and decent fluid to make sure the braking is on par with the extra vitamins. That's it.

I will miss the hooligan that was the 6.2 V8 though. What an engine...

Thanks! It’s RWD with LSD, I did consider the E63S as well but I don’t need that extra size and I love a compact station with too much power.
I briefly considered an RS6 but decided against it given my relatively exuberant driving preferences. 😌 The C63 is very lively/playful, an RS6 logically much more sure footed.

Those 6.2V8s are awesome aren't they, the way they revved up all the way to 7K was fantastic, the new one tho' is stunning, great looking wagon and the super torquey 4.0 turbo - perfecto

I promised myself to get myself another car with that engine, as a keeper (at some point). Ideally in the shape of a CLK Black Series.
