M4 Coupé: 1775Kg
M4 Competition Coupé: 1800Kg
M3 Sedan: 1780Kg
M3 Competition Sedan: 1805Kg
Is that one of those weights that includes luggage and driver or just the car full of fuel?
Kerb weight with driver.
It says "weight, unladen, to DIN / EU"
EU weight includes a 75Kg driver.

I find it hard to believe that they added nearly 400 pounds (like for like). I guess the AWD models will be even much heavier? Are we sure the weighing standards haven't changed (they did for Porsche)??
18 GT3 Manual, 73 Carrera RS 2.7 Carbon Fiber replica (1,890 lbs), 06 EVO9 with track mods. Former: 16 Cayman GT4, 73 911S, Two 951S's, 996 C2, 993 C2, 98 Ferrari 550, 79 635CSi
Enmanuel:The front is definitely a hard pill to swallow. And those launch colors have not done them any favours. That said i saw some vide reviews yesterday and the M3 isn't that bad. In a dark gray and with a front license plate I wouldn't say no to it.
Also, the exhaust pipes and this „performance“ rear wing

Ya, I remember when the 718 GT4 came out Andreas Preuninger said something about new weight standards.
I believe it was something like "before it was the lighter car possible, now it's the standard car that counts"
Btw, the 2014 M4 coupé(auto) weights 1612Kg, the 2018 M4 coupé(auto) weights 1670Kg. Does it have OPF?
reginos:I saw the controversial 4 series coupe for the first time this morning when I went to the BMW dealer to service my car.
The 4 on display was in Arctic Race Blue, a greyish blue with M exterior package and a black grille with these nice silver horizontal bits.
The front looked totally inoffensive, to be honest and it blended well with the whole design. I cannot see what the fuss is except of the human attitude of resistance to change. The front of the car in reality looks better and harmonious than in pictures.
The 4 coupe appealed to me as a very good package. From the door backwards it resembles a small 8, rear accommodation is OK for this type of car, definitely much better than 2+2 sportscars and the luggage area is very generous. The 6 cylinder Xdrive must be a superb daily drive and GT car and very affordable starting from €65.000 with good equipment as standard.
OOoops I don't know why the pictures appear like that but if you click they should appear straightened.

The photo orientation bug happens for pictures taken with iPhones and uploaded straight to the site without doing a rotation edit first.
To sidestep this bug, portrait pics needed to be rotated to landscape and then back again, either on the phone or on a computer, the way the orientation flag is set properly.

This has to be a joke, right?
Perhaps, somebody from Techart was recruited to work on the exhaust or LEGO... ?
LEGO! Hahahahaha!
It is like all the people working at Techart, Mansory and Gemballa got recruited by BMW and this is the result
2016 Porsche 981 GT4 | Racing Yellow
2018 Audi S6 Avant | Ibis White

... and they all wanted their own exhaust?
...the ones who did not get an exhaust designed the front

The new models are 12cm longer than the outgoing ones. This must account for a part of the weight difference. The particulate filter system adds some 50kg extra. Brakes (and wheels I think) are also bigger and more equipment has been added including safety features. All these top up to the 200kg level. AWD available as from next year will add another 70 kg?
Cars are definitely getting heavier for a variety of known reasons. The question is how well they drive given their increased weight. And anyway with this trend towards performance EVs like the Taycan at 2.2 metric tonnes too much nitpicking about car weight is superfluous.

BjoernB:maybe live not so bad....
It looks better live (I haven't seen the M3/M4 yet though).
I don't know...the M4 looks like a small M5 now (in a way), could be a good offer as a daily driver. Probably no sound but maybe better than an EV of some sorts, especially when the M4 gets AWD next year.

spudgun:Glad to see some character! 👏🏻 Apart from the hate/love discussion: I applaud BMW for taking the risk, better ugly and different than a dime in a dozen-design. (looking at you Mercedes and Audi 👀)
That's true, the photoshops with a more conservative front make it look line any BMW of the last few years, I wouldn't be able to recognize it as anything new.
Porsche, separates Le Mans from Le Boys

But we already had ugly and different in the past (Bangle), wasn't that successful AFAIK.
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.
