    Re: Tyranny of Low Mileage

I think people love the F40 because it's shape and design is what most people associate with a race car...for the road. It is hard to explain but the F40 is iconic in a way, very special car for me (and many other people I know).

I hate classic cars, well...most of them but the F40 is one of the exceptions. Would love to own one.

Indeed. There is a strange anachronism to it in my mind always. Ferrari is fundamentally a naturally aspirated V12 company yet possibly it's most iconic modern car is a V8 turbo with epic turbo lag.

Way back then. the previous owner of the local Ferrari store wanted to sell his collection of the fab 5. I was asked, but I was only interested in the 288 and Enzo, so no deal.

You should have said something about it here, then we could have made a collective purchase. Smiley

    F50 for me please. Smiley

Fantatic Ferrari pics - what a collection crayphile...kiss

At a time end of the 1980th, I had a collection of almost 30 Ferrari F40 and I made a small fortune out of them...unfortunately they were just 1:18 cars from Bburago...smiley. At the best times they sold for almost 1.000 DM - each...that was real fun.

Wow. There does seem to be universal love for the F40 regardless of brand loyalties.

Yep, Porsche guy here but the F40 is the most beautiful sportscar of all time to me, and has a special place in hall of fame of sportscars. Was given a ride in one by a family friend in his new F40 back in 1988 when I was a teenager and the experience was something special.

The F40 is one of the main reasons why I am such a car addict! Absolutely love this car indecision

It came out just around the same time as the 959. And I felt in love with the tech in the 959, and the F40 just seems like an ancient car to me back then.

Later on when I learn more about the car, I start falling in love with it's predecessor the 288 more instead.

F40 is iconic looking, however. I like it, but I just don't love it.

Enzo would be the absolute favourite. I think it's the most beautiful Ferrari ever. Nothing come close.

You must be in a minority here.... I always get the sense the Enzo was a bit unloved.  But does that mean good examples are any easier to find?

Yup, he follows a different track Smiley. Enzo is my least favourite of the Big Five.

Some of the tech on the Enzo hasn't aged well.  The early F1 gearbox is pretty horrible, especially by today's standards.

    Re: Tyranny of Low Mileage

I do think the Enzo has immense road presence and I commend Ferrari for going with such a bold design. At the time, and even now it's still a departure from anything else in their lineup and anyone else's.

    Oh yeah I am.

I love the hard edged styling. Look so much better and age so much better than the 250 stuff. Or a Jaguar E-Type. Those melted soap bars just looks to me like they missed a date with the wrecking yard by 3 decades.

Am getting more and more affectionate with the F40 recently. Now how do I get the financing solved for that thing...

    Re: Tyranny of Low Mileage

Forgetting the tech and focusing just on the design, I agree with Whoopsy, the Enzo is the most forward facing of the group. It is also the one not designed by an Italian...
