Very nice shots! Hey RC, do the porsche factory workers earn enough to drive the product they build?
Is there a program to buy one at cost if you are an employee?
Are they unionized? Just wondering if the parking lot is full of porsches or opels.
Tom
I'm afraid the "simple" factory worker doesn't drive a Porsche. But they must be highly motivated, they just received another bonus of 3000 Euro each, not to speak about the 13th salary which isn't as common anymore as it was before over here in Germany. I also think they received 5000 Euro each last year as a bonus.
Working conditions also seem to be very good as far as I could tell on my last visit to the factory.
And yes, they are organized in a union.
Employees have the right to buy a Porsche with a very interesting rebate but not at production cost. The rules for re-selling those cars are very strict as far as I know, so I doubt many employees actually use that rebate.
Employees in "higher" positions are driving various Porsche models which are actually company cars and not their private cars.
I met some software engineers who drove a Cayenne S. Employees like technical reps or regional managers usually drive a 996 or 996 C4S. I once saw somebody from the higher management driving a 996 Turbo and Weissach test engineers and higher employees got a bunch of 997 Carrera S with PCCB. But otherwise, there is no "free" Porsche for every employee.
You can see a lot of Porsche cars parked in the Weissach employee parking lots (not the one next to the main entrance, this is the visitor parking lot) but less around the factory employee parking lots.
And what might be interesting: a few Audi V8 have been sighted on the Werk 1 parking lot (this is where Dr. Wiedeking has his office), not that it would mean something special.
