    sportec CGT

OK, who believes the 720HP kit will produce the real deal? if so, does this mean it will be how fast? I know its just magazing racing, but fun no less!so what do you guys think?
and how the HELL can a high rpm NA engine achieve a 20% gain in power?

    Re: sportec CGT

    lets wait and find out

you won't be able to use it until at least 3rd gear (when the tires stop spinning) and it will likely hurt on the track since you'll likely have to wait until the car is pointed straight post apex to give throttle. also, it's real hard to believe porsche left 120 easy hp on the table given the enzo with which they were competing. they had to bore the motor from 5.5 to 5.7 to go from 550 to 600!

    Re: sportec CGT

There are just some cars that should never be "touched" by a tunner, and the CGT is one of them.

    Re: sportec CGT

Ben Lj, I respect your opinion more than anyone's as you own one, however I just thought I would add that maybe the reason they went to 5.7 is that they wanted to increase the useable torque as much as possible..just a thought. also, didnt you say in some post that it was detuned from 800 in the early stages as a LM project or something along those lines?

I also think that's the reason Porsche mentioned when the final version of the CGT was showed.

Yes it was detuned from 800 hp, but aren't those engines designed to be rebuilt after every race or so instead of being warrantied 4 years and 50k miles? Additionally, that 800 hp power plant was designed to go in something much more race car like (big grippy race tires, 1/2 the weight, etc) than the finished CGT product. So, the race car probably could have utilized the 800 hp and it would have been a rebuilder after every race. And fwiw, I don't recall there being a big torque difference from the 5.5 to the 5.7.

I cannot imagine this car with that kind of HP. It would be undriveable. It would be insane!
