I've just done the following math:
161,217/3600 * (7*60+40) = 20,6 km
According to
this site, the official track has 20.832 km, but some times are measured in a 20.6 km version of the track, and this happens to be the case. Does anyone know the diference in the remaining 232 meters? Because if it is a tight section then it would definitely change the times.
For the record (and from the same site), here are some times:
# 20,832 km 7,32,52= 166 km/h Gemballa GTR Biturbo 600 ps, Wolfgang Kaufmann 2001.
# 22,835 km 8,22,2 = 163,6 km/h GP Suzuki 500ccm, Marco Lucchinelli, 1980.
# 20,832 km 7,40 = 162 km/h Porsche 935 550 hp.
# 20,832 km 7,42 = 162 km/h Porsche 911 RS 3.8, slicks, Walther Röhrl.
# 20,600 km 7,40 = 161 km/h Porsche Carrera GT, Sport Auto 2003.
# 20,832 km 7,43,4 = 161 km/h TechArt 996 GT2 Porsche 620 ps, Horst von Saurma, Sport Auto 2001.
# 7,44 = 161 km/h 2002 Pagani Zonda S, Horst von Saurma, Sport Auto 2002.
Notice that the average speed (161,217) is quite good. Right among the CGT first Sport Auto attempt.
Honestly, at first i thought that the GT3 RS 7.47 min wasn't that special comparing to the original GT3, because i thought that the R compound tires would be a huge advantage. 7.40 min would be nicer but it is strangely and dangeresly close to the CGT time.
Cheers
