I think we need to see this car live because it doesn't look too good in these photos. Also, this color doesn't really favor the shape but maybe it is just me (now bluelines will come and say...it is just you ).

apias:It looks like a cartoon car in these pics. (renderings, no? they don't look like photos to me.) I expect to see Roger Rabbit at the wheel.
....... wearing a large gold medallion and a shirt unbuttoned to the waist.
A chest wig would be kind of superfluous on Roger.

fritz:intouch1:the retro grille doesnt suite it
The word "cartoonish" comes to mind..........
Not only that, they use the interior sound for the exterior driving footage, which is just plain stupid (I would almost call it fraud ). I also kind of have the feeling that a sound symposer to the engine bay is in play...
Not a fan as you can tell.

I like the color. But the grille is on wrong side of the retro-modern continuum. I don't understand the need to re-use these ugly 50's historical styling elements. Why not add the windshield protection bars from the Panamerica race while they're at it? Say what you want, but at least Porsche has the common sense to stop at the model names / numbers (718, RS-60).
on the panamericana the grille looks great.....but not almost 70 years later on a modern amg
i for one love amg`s.....and so far owned an sls still have a c63 and a g63 incoming. but amg to me had a very specific niche which they are now moving out of.
i also strongly feel that they are heavily diluting the amg brand with the inclusion of the new c43 (previously c450( and glc43 etc. these are not amg engines, merely higher powered run of the mill mercedes engines and cars with amg bodykits....not good imo.

I think it looks great. But, AMG never got too many fans on rennteam any way...
Just, I quite vividly remember comments about new R8 when it was introduced. I was the only one who liked it. Many members wrote a pretty bad comments about it. Now, after Christian got one everyone here likes it... Inconsistent crowd here on rennteam.
Also, waiting to see how many members will replace their 991 GT3 RS with Mclaren 570S or 650S... Which is from drive dynamics point of view a big stepback IMHO. Got the chance to test drive 570S few days ago and I truly do not get what is so great about it?
It seems to me that my personal preferences mirrors what CG is writing in Sport Auto. Also, that means that I disagree most of the time with opinion by UK car press.
Back about GT-R. Please, read full press release by AMG. Car has many new features and I truly believe that it will be amazing front engine sportscar.
Wait for the 2nd Gen Panamera thread to get fired up in 2 days with all the cheering and praises, because it looks sexier than an AMG GTR (only on RT)

I admire Shmee150 for his business success as a YouTuber, I like his videos because they are entertaining and the videos are well made but I'm not convinced with his skills as an auto reviewer. This is where Chris Harris comes in...
Tim Burton saying that he bought a Mercedes GT R is like a Kardashian saying she just bought a Hermes bag. Not really interesting or saying anything about the quality of the bag.
His strategy of buying cars is quite clever though: He seems to buy special edition models with limited production numbers. These cars could be worth more than their MSRP at some point. Cayman GT4...675LT Spider...Aston Martin Vantage GT8...AMG GT R...clever.
Btw: Both my wife and daughter dislike Tim Burton (Shmee150), they cannot stand his lisp.

pmarkow:of course i respect the taste of some here who like it but it leaves me cold as ice. the design looks comic to me.
Same here. I considered many cars before but the AMG GT was never one of them.

Agree with you RC. I don't like his videos because his comments in any given video could be applied to virtually any good car. "Fantastic", "amazing", "superb", etc. tells us nothing about the car. :)
Not saying it's an easy job, but only reason I would click on one of his videos is to "check out" a car not seen before virtually.
