    The "Will my kids fit?" thread - reprise

    Okay. Am I SOL? I'm average size (5'9" 165lb) with 4 children (11, 9, 7 & 5). My wife drives a Z71 Suburban. The 911 will be my business car (lawyer), but occasionally I'll need to pick up kids from here and drop them off there. Will one child fit in the front passenger and another in the passenger rear?

    Had a 1990 C4 Cab when my kids were 8, 9 and 11. They all fit just fine. I will be picking up my 997 coupe in a couple of weeks. My kids are now 13, 14, and 16. Since the 997 will be my wife's daily driver, there will definitely be some kid hauling done, and we don't think we will have a problem. Just for the record, I'm 5'5 120 lbs and I thought the back seat of the 997 was fairly comfortable.

    My wife is 5'2". She has more than enough room up front and there is room enough for my 4-year old sitting directly behind her. And he is above average size.

    I am 6ft, my children are 14 and 10, I regularly pick them up from school, there is no problem, especially with one in the front and one behind. There is much much more room than in my XK8 Cab. (In fact they would be prepared to suffer for a cool car, and there would never be enough room in an uncool car)

    No Problem with 996 and 997. My kids are 7 and 11 and both fit very well for short trips in the rear seats. The height of my taller son is 155 cm or 5"1. There are still some inch left for growing. Taller then 5"6 will be a problem and the knies are also a problem for taller children.

    My children loved to sit in a 996 at the rear seats.

    I have had all manner of teenagers and moderately sized adults, including my wife, in the back for short trips.

    I think women tend to be more comfortable because their upper body length is shorter than a man's. The sloping roof is maybe more of an issue than leg room, though getting out of the back is not so easy for an adult.

    I am really and very pleasantly surprised that four seats means, more or less, four seats. Quite an added bonus for what is practically speaking a two seater. But I certainly wouldn't submit an adult to driving in the back for any extended period.

    I'm also pleasantly surprised by how much stuff I can haul around in it including on the back seats.

    No problem for me, with me being 6' and my kids at 8 and 12...they love it and I still have room for the dog up front!...wife runs alongside (just kidding)!

    You can always fit three little kids in your 911 without a major problem. Put the oldest one in the front (don't forget to install the airbag deactivation kit for child seat usage!) and the younger ones in the rear. Also don't forget to buy the "proper" child seats for them, some non-Porsche child seats might not work too well in the rear because of the small sized and upright positioned rear seats. My little girl (she is 4) love to drive with me in the 911, especially in the front with a raised seat (so she can watch the surroundings much better).
    May I suggest the following: get two Porsche Zoom seats (they are suitable for kids from 3 1/2 to 12) and leave them in your rear. So you always have the seats with you when you need them. Just "lock" them with the seatbelts, so they don't move too much when empty. The Porsche Zoom isn't too expensive either.
