When it is cold outside, especially below zero, there isn't much dust or dirt which could stick to the car. Why? Because it is usually frozen. Brrrr...

RC, I keep on saying So. California. It was 25C (78) today again and beautiful sunny weather. Florida on the other hand has a cold spell with freezes again and Miami's high was only 19C (67F) today.

And the best thing about California is that you can go snow sking in the morning in the local mountains and go water skiing in the afternoons at the local beaches, all only about 45-50 miles apart.

Silly question, but how do you wash the car when it is that cold? (0 C or lower)

Doesn't always work! ... best solution is to drive down to Spain and wash it

    Re: 997 Winter Wonderland

I would love to drive to Spain now and stay there for a while. Unfortunately I need to earn money too to be able to feed the kids, run Rennteam.com, pay for my Porsches, etc.

How do I wash the car at temperatures below 0*C? Very simple: there is an automated car wash nearby which sometimes is open, even at temperatures below 0*C. Or if it is REALLY cold outside (below -5*C) and the car wash is closed, there is a "manual" high pressure car wash nearby too and I agree that I usually freeze my a.. off when washing my car. But the biggest problem is: due to the warm water used in the car wash installation, the pavement around the installation is completely ICEY and it is very dangerous to brake there. A lot of accidents happen there.
Below -10*C forget about washing the car. I actually prefer these low temperatures (they usually come with lots of sunshine, as unbelievable this might sound) because the streets are dry, there is no snow and there isn't much danger of ice either unless you drive through shadow covered woods, etc.
I remember I once drove in my 996 C2 (my first 996) to Austria with my wife on a saturday. We had around -20*C, sun and I had summer tires(!) on my 996. No problem at all but after driving a factory 996 C2 powerkit prototype equipped with winter tires around Stuttgart area in winter time, I really recommend winter tires. It was so much fun, I even remember that the car was equipped with Pirelli winter tires.

Very nice. So you need a black 997 Carrera S now...
