    GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Rumor has it that this was the end of a quick lunch run, to Boston Market, for a porter/salesman at a luxury auto dealership. The driver was not injured!

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

    expensive lunch.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Looks like he might have hit that sidewalk siveways at a fair speed and flipped over

At least he won't forget where he parked.

As Donald Trump would say...."You're Fired"

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

He was lucky that didn't hit any pole...

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Given GT2's legendary depreciation, wonder if car had full-replacement cost (MSRP) insurance? Perhaps not so "costly" an accident....

interesting theory... i mean how exactly do your ground-hugging GT car in a shopping center...

Hmm. Wheels are obviously out of alignment. Wonder if the driver blamed the accident on that?

In this shot you can appreciate the efforts made to clean up underfloor aerodynamics.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Carlos, you are right. The GT2 flipped because the driver's side rear wheel hit the curb. I will post more photos when I have a chance.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Thanks Pete, I was wondering how it happened. What a pity

    I have only this: 100% S T U P I D I T Y.
Never saw such a thing on the track but in the city?

Yes. Doing some ridiculous speed. Only way it could have happened.

I agree with RC - stupidity. This has nothing to do with cold tyres.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

lol. matter of cold brains then? :P

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

It can happen more easily than what it looks actually, doesn't take too much for a curb like that in the pic to trip you and flip you if you hit it just right. As soon as he lost it if he would of focused of keeping the nose (or rear) perpendicular to the curb as much as posible at all costs instead of fighting it to the end and trying to save it, he probably would of been able to drive away with much less damage (and danger, flyping over is very dangerous situation for the occupants). I have even seen it happen at the track when hitting the gravel/curb/grass with the car drifting sideways and hitting it sideways, and know of someone who totalled his 911 this way at the track.

I wonder if it was a mistake from biting more than he can chew on a GT2 or a simple distraction that caused him to loose it in the first place. Maybe if he would of had PSM who knows...

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

RC, you are likely correct but I don't know the driver, so that is why I left it as ?driver. Lack of judgement on a suburban road likely played a significant role. Cold tires on a wet 5 Celsius day in a GT2 clearly leaves little room for error if one has a momentary lapse of reason.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

    Here is the curbed wheel:

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

    Here is the curb:

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Here is the miracle that anyone could walk away from this:
Yes, he missed the poles but landed on the hydrant!

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Cabin looks pretty crushed, was the driver ok?

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

DAMN!, that fire hydrant looks like it went through the roof

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Oops, I missed the caption. So he walked away? Unbeleivable.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Thanks for the pics Peter. Its unbelievable he was allright, look at the cabin!
Looks like he took the corner on the entry into Boston Market way too fast under such slippery conditions and drifted sideways into the curb, tripped and flipped what in the world was he thingking? and by the look of the damage to the curb, rear wheel damage and broken front axl... he must of been doing warp speed for such a place

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

Yes, Moogle the fire hydrant went through the roof! How it missed his head and he walked from that crash is unbelievable. Clearly he was lucky, but it is also a testament to Porsche safety design!

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

The car would have benefited from the club sport package.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

When I saw the first pic, I thought the car was almost intact. Now I realize the car is completely destroyed. ouch.
The owner has to be mad at himself. He's never going to forgive himself. So stupid.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

    jesus what a waist..so sad..
but i don't think the car is completely lost..
well the insurance has to give a lot of $$$ to repair this GT2..

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

I dont see the problem here....isnt that a normal parking??

Peter, hvow do you know for sure he made it out in one piece? Looks pretty impossible for anyone to avoid -let alone survive- that hydrant since its planted RIGHT thru the driver's seat.

    Re: GT2 + cold tires + ?driver = ?

    Phil

This route is near my home and the photos were taken by
someone that happened by the aftermath of the accident at lunchtime. He witnessed that the driver was uninjured.
He believed that the driver was a porter for a high end luxury used car dealership blocks away from that corner.
Recently they have had 3-4 GT2's. It's believed that this is one of them.

It's always amazed me how they allow the staff to take out these cars. I once helped someone to check out a nearly new C4S at their lot. The car was recently driven from their downtown location and the clutch smelt burnt! I hope they treat their customer cars differently!
