What's the fixation on a V8? The boxer is a unique engine. Only 2 manufacturers (Porsche and Subaru, to my knowledge) have them and they are superb, from an engine dynamics and car handling perspectives.
As far as installing a V8 using the space currently occupied by the rear seats... it does not matter - the vehicle center of gravity will rise no matter what. Keep it untouched - a boxer it is. Want a V8 get another car - I don't.
I could see a boxer-8, but I still think the boxer-6 is plenty for the 11.
Also... come to think of it... a boxer is a 180 degrees V-engine. In the present case, a 180deg V-6.
actually ferrari makes the 180deg v, all the cars with extensions bb were boxer berlinetas, or boxer cupes.
but ferrari abandond it becouse it less eficient in terms of underbody aero, you cant put a difuser under a boxer
