    Official pics of new ML....

I wouldn't buy it, look at that steering wheel, hideous interior, could have done better IMO. The R-class is more appealing...but then what about real 4x4 abilities? If you want to buy a Merc 4x4, buy a G55K....

Re: Official pics of new ML....

Thanks a lot for the pics! But jeez, is that car ugly... it looks like it had probs when being born... :P

    haha missing a chromosome.

Didnt someone post that the Kia Sorento looked similar
    to this car?

Re: Official pics of new ML....

I like it. The front a bit less because of its similarity to the Kia Sorento, but will wait to see it in real.
The rear seems to be very nice...any pics?
    Any news on first deliveries?

Re: Official pics of new ML....

I this picture, it doesn't look bad at all. And I'm afraid the new ML will have a serious impact on Cayenne sales, especially if the new ML will provide a good quality from the start and if it is competitively priced.
I heard that the new ML55 or ML60, whatever, will be priced substantially below the Cayenne Turbo price tag. If true, rumors also indicate an engine with power output between 460 and 500 HP, it could hurt Cayenne Turbo sales very much.

Porsche just doesn't get it: instead of offering a powerkit for extra money, they should have offered the 500 HP as a standard option on the Cayenne Turbo and at the same time they should have offered a retrofit kit for let's say 6000 Euro for the buyers of "older" Cayenne Turbo with 450 HP.

Time will tell but I make my bet: as soon as the new ML hits the roads, Cayenne sales will drop. Not to speak about the new X5 wich is due 2006.

Re: Official pics of new ML....

I think it looks ok, a little too feminine though.

I agree, especially knowing that Mercedes (and then BMW) will come out with some serious bi-turbo diesel engine which will perform at similar levels of the Cayenne V6 and S. People in Europe in particular, tend to look a lot about fuel cost and consumption!
Now the Cayenne is selling because no one want the ML as it's too old. X5 is still ok, but there are too many around.

    The time will tell...

Re: Official pics of new ML....

Thanks for posting the photos Bilal.

I think I like it. I'm not really sure yet. Some of the angles look a little odd, inconsistent with one another or something.

It looks better and I'm pretty sure that the AMG version looks more aggressive.
Tough times for Porsche over the next few years, the new X5 is coming 2006 too.
The Cayenne had a lot of success too because the ML and X5 were already "outdated" when the Cayenne showed up.

Re: COMPLETELY TAKE BACK MY COMMENTS

RC: any picture about the new X5? My gf is planning to get a SUV, what car do you think she should get? because the new X5 and RR are coming and I already have Cayenne. Please no ML. thanks

Re: COMPLETELY TAKE BACK MY COMMENTS

I'd say get the new X5 if it's not too Banglized. On the other hand, if it's an ugmo, go for the new Range Rover Sport.

Here's a photo from The Car Connection (LINK to web page) of the 2006/2007 X5. It is to have third row seating as an option.

Also, German Car Fans has a good review today of the new ML: (LINK to web page). Of interest to me was an optional locking center and rear differential and low range gearing.

    The M is finally a PROPER 4x4

Central and rear diff, that's really good, plus low gearing, it's got it all, and I personally think it looks fantastic, a perfect blend of sportiness and class. Makes the Touareg and Cayenne look fat and chubby.
Gary, have you signed your order form yet?

I think I'm OK for a year or two.

The on-road handling of the Cayenne is going to be hard to beat, and that is a very important factor to me. The past ML's have not impressed me in this area.

I could see myself trrading the Cayenne in a couple of years, maybe for a facelifted Cayenne with the Technical Offroad Package this time.

Same link as the one I posted above.

Re: The M is finally a PROPER 4x4

If this were the new ML63/65 AMG....

Will probably never happen as far as bodykit is concerned due to it being a 4x4, but the wheels are a possibility and so are the engines....63 is confirmed, 65...well if you have the money....

Re: The M is finally a PROPER 4x4

I got this regarding the AMG model: ML 63 AMG. Normally aspirated 6.3 V8 engine with 476 HP.
And now the best part: you can order it with a performance package or off-road package. The performance package ML should be around 250-300 kg lighter than the Cayenne Turbo.
Pretty impressive. Top speed limited to 250 kph but a little birdie told me that AMG might offer a 280 kph limit as an option for certain markets.

The new BMW X5 is rumored to get the V10 M5 engine sooner or later with a power range around 480 HP. Weight will also be around 300 kg lower than on the Cayenne Turbo.

So at least I know how our future family car will look alike, if Porsche doesn't get things straight and starts to get rid of the hesitation issue.

Re: The M is finally a PROPER 4x4

    6.3L NA V8 from Merc!!!
Can't wait to see that in the SL!

Re: The M is finally a PROPER 4x4

    RC, that sounds awesome!

The 7 gears coupled to 600NM and lighter weight should enable pretty good performance....

Time will tell, I thought you were always a Porsche man
