just noticed, that Porsche has certified "Dunlop Sport Maxx Race" and "Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2" only;  not even the Cup R. I wouldn't care too much though

I found all these with the N ( Porsche approved ) rating .

Also my RS had a recal last year to update the software in order to accept  the Cup R tires . They also added a paper into the car's manuel about it .

    Michelin Pilot Sport 4 325/30 ZR21 (108Y) XL Acoustic, N0

    Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2
    325/30 ZR21 (108Y) XL N1

    Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 325/30 ZR21 (108Y) XL N2

    Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R 325/30 ZR21 108Y XL N0

    Pirelli P Zero SC 325/30 ZR21 (108Y) XL N0

    Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport RS
    325/30 ZR21 (108Y) XL N0

Thanks for the info. Seems like Porsche did not update their website .

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

Here is what my tire guy told me :
Cup 2  - everyone knows them. It's a good tire when dry and does reasonably well in the wet.
Cup2R - expensive, does miracles when dry, doesn't work in the wet, higher wear than the CUP2
Goodyear Supersport R - quite similar to the Cup2. Guy claimed that durability is slightly better
Goodyear Supersport RS - similar to the Cup2R, hard to get at the moment, no experience
Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 - again similar to the Cup2. Some customers claim that it's better than the Michelin, others claim the opposite. According to my tire guy the Goodyear Supersport R is the better choice. He also thinks, that sooner or later the Dunlop brand will disappear in Europe

Correct - they do not make the Cup 2R tires in GT3 sizes (just like these new Goodyear RS tires).  I think this is largely a marketing decision to further separate the GT3 from RS with lap times (in reality, the cars are not that different with equal tires).

The Ferrari version of the Cup R fits the GT3; and I agree, with equal tires they have very similar performance

I wonder if that's a good idea.  The N-rated tires made for Porsche have unusual dimensions (the stock 305 rear tires are built like 325mm tires to fit the wide 12" wheels) and load ratings.

    Very interesting , thanks .

Wondering now more about those Goodyear Supersport R ....

Looks great! Given you're already into quite an expensively specced RS, would you be tempted to go for the MR package? Haven't seen customer cars with the package on GT3 RS's yet, but I know Topaz' owner has done it on his GT2.

Do you have the same wotk on the other cars?

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

What does the level five detail cost for a RS? He mentioned this was a collectors car. You plan to use it or store it?

Maybe I'm fortunate in that I don't look or see paint imperfections. indecision

That's a good idea. I might look into that. I have driven the GT2RS MR ( you can guess whose Smiley) on the road and was amazed how different the steering feels and how compliant it was on the road, can only imagine how good it is on the track.

Generally only on non-metallic cars that I plan to keep longer term - the transformation with the Level 5 is spectacular especially with a flat black car.  There is no comparison to a newly delivered car with factory paint to one that has been sanded down and polished in this manner - it is night and day.

You're basically getting the GT3 R's suspension, I believe it makes a huge difference.

I had their full suspension setup on my 997 RS at the time, and even back then it was more compliant than OEM yet much more tightly controlled.

Good buddy has complete MR package on ''regular'' GT3, he is faster than 3RS WP stock.

however, the 3RS WP with MR preparation will be a monster. he just bought one and about to do the same magic to it. the 3RS is just on another level with proper setup. it is an RS.Smiley

Agree it's a fantastic package. Cost is outrageous though but if you can afford it, you get the ultimate weapon in return imo.
