Btw: Did you have yours? Smiley

not yet….not yet….actually we have no local dealer…..

was just looking at the urus again a couple of days ago. but am just not interested in another bi-turbo V8....

and finally, the climate and roads here are really not sports car expecially lambo friendly….though some people have them.

and ultimately, i am very much enjoying the vintage car thing at the moment...have zero interest actually in a new car with a million gizmos etc.....comes with the phases of life i guess Smiley

currently i do most km's on my bikes anywaySmiley

    Porsche-Jeck:

Many congrats, RC - brave move, fantastic sportscar SmileySmileySmiley As you mention track fun with the car: did you try already whether the headroom is sufficient when wearing a helmet ? Was a no go for me in the Gallardo (though I am not a giant for sure) but was somewhat roomier in the Huracan.

    Sorry, overlooked your post. Smiley

First, let me thank you. Smiley

I think it is possible to lower the seat low enough to wear a helmet but if you're a "big" guy, you'll have issues with the helmet. Or to make it short: The Performante probably isn't for big guys who want to wear a helmet. Smiley Otherwise, there is enough headroom, there is an optional bucket seat available which comes with a roll cage (5500 EUR or so option, plus VAT) but I don't know what kind of safety belts can be used with that combo.

I love the Performante because it feels like a nicely fitting glove but not everyone will enjoy this feel. The R8 feels a bit roomier than the Huracan.

It feels good and not so good at the same time.

Why? Well, it is a dream come true but I will have to sacrifice a few things (I talked about this with my wife and she actually suggested it). We are going to reduce our vacation luxury and I had to promise that for the three to four years, this is the last new car we get (we still have the C63 S convertible incoming soon but this is a different story).

So while I enjoy making a dream of mine happen, I am also a bit worried that our beloved vacations won't be as fun as they used to be. May sound stupid, I know but... Smiley

Don't worry, I am not financially endangered in any way, this is just us being responsible and keeping expenses at bay. Smiley

I guess these negative thoughts will be over soon once the car arrives. Smiley

I'm sure about the last sentence. Smiley

I see it this way: we're all not getting younger and if you want something badly and don't have to take a big financial risk for it, so why not?

There's an old Elvis tune, it says "Follow that dream". Smiley

No problem , you are welcome Smiley - this thread is quickly picking up more posts than the 992 thread Smiley I'd assume that the buckets come with a six point harness but I understand you stick with the "regular" seats (if there is such a thing as regular in the Performante) anyway. Very much looking forward to the reports on your adventures with this toy for big boys Smiley The only thing which is worrying a bit is your promise to your wife not to order another car within 3-4 years (though smart to offer a range rather than a fix date - ranges often tend to become moving targets...) I understand what you mean, this is why I plan to bring the Performante home...not sure how I am going to fit it in our garage though...4 cars, not easy (3 are no problem, see photo).

This was one thought but I think I can manage to fit the Huracan in the back of the garage, put the RR close to it and then the C63 S Cab behind it. The Evoque is quite short. The E63 is too long, it needs to stay on the left side of the garage. We'll see...

I know, my R8 has spent over two years completely undamaged in that particular semi-public garage (photo with the Huracan) but a Lambo is a different story, people could get emotional about it and I just don't want to risk it.

Kidding aside: Most German houses have two garage spaces only, some of them even quite "tight".

I recently visited the house of the widow of the architect who built our house (nothing special but we had a very friendly relationship with his family) and that house is almost double the size of ours (we have 4305 square ft.), incredibly big, especially for Germany. The garage? Two small spaces, you couldn't park two large SUVs next to each other. Even in front of the garage, there is only space for one car. Our garage has three "official" spaces, four if we squeeze the cars in tightly and another three in front of the garage if necessary. So basically a total of 7 parking spaces, which is quite a lot. Three are unfortunately outdoors.

Life in the States!  Many of the homes near my weekend place even have separate structures, aka as Man Caves, to hold additional automobiles, even with the typical four garage spaces attached to the home.

Why should it if it fits in the garage? Nobody wants to start the morning in an ice cold car (winter time) and there is also a nasty little critter named marten at home in our region, so go figure... 😉
