    Stiff Challenge

    Hello to everybody. Which Porsche model has(or do you feel) the stiffest chassis(excluding Carrera GT) and in which position do you put them ?? I give you the names of the contenders:
    997 S -20mm
    996 GT3 mk2
    996 GT3 RS
    996 GT2
    Put in your positions!

    I think body stifness and chassis stiffness are two differento things, in terms of body stiffness well obviously the three 996s have the same stiffness, maybe the 997 is higher, I don't know.
    In terms of chassis set up, I would say that the stiffest if the GT3 mk2 on par with the GT2. I remember reading that although the GT3 mk1 "feels" stiffer it actually isnt'.
    The least stiff of all would be the 997S sport suspension IMO, in terms of suspensions sitffness.

    What do you mean by "stiffest"? Do you mean ride comfort, sportiness? I think we need a better explanation of where you want to get to.

    toss up between the GT2 and GT3 RS.

    RC, i believe you are looking to deep into the question, i think he means either torsional rigidity, or ride 'harshness'.

    Well not sprung the stiffest but the most solid would be the 928. Built like a bank vault and proven so in many accidents that i know of.

    Okay, now your question makes sense. You could have a relatively soft suspension and still sense a very stiff "chassis" because the chassis itself doesn't flex. I say sense the stiff chassis because you won't be uncomfortable because of a stiff chassis, it just feels controlled and solid. It's the suspension that will punish you. Ofcourse a stiffer suspension will reveal a weak chassis more quickly because it will more likely flex the chassis. Two different things you could talk about that will have very different feels in order to gauge each one. Although for a track car you want both very stiff.

    the gt2's suspension isn't as stiff as the Gt3 mk2 I've got a test in a magazine where they compare the two..well the first version of the Gt2 at least..(about the improved version I haven't read any tests yet)..so it would be

    Gt3 RS
    Gt3 mk2

    then either Gt2 or Gt3 mk 1...I don't no

    and then there would be the 997 S with sport suspension I think..but I'm not sure about this one either..

    I had only a very short ride in a GT2 Mk2, so I can't say much about it.

    The GT2 Mk.2 was tested in SportAuto a couple of month ago - I just recall that the setup and handling have further improved but no further explanations.
