996FourEss:Anyone have the dimensions? Where does it “fit” vs Performante, 488 etc?
I'd say bigger but I have no definitive numbers yet...

Compared to the Carrera models the Performante is 7 cm and the 488 10cm wider.
Given the above, It is very likely that the Turbo will be near the width of the Italians but most probably not more.
The length of the Carrera is 4.52m and there is no reason for the Turbo to be longer by more than a few mm if any, possibly due to bumper shape. Huracan and 488 are longer at 4.56m and 4.57m respectively.
I am sure that on the road in the real world the Turbo will be superior to the Italian cars, especially the RWD Ferrari. However, in terms of sounds, emotions and visual impact the Turbo will be in deficit. But OTOH this has been the attraction of the 911 Turbo throughout its 45 year life.

According to Lamborghini, the Performante length is 4506 mm and the width is 1924 mm. Height is 1165 mm.

So if the rear mirrors are taken into account , the 992 is wider then the Performante ....
The particularity of the 911 was always that it was a smaller car , but now it has become more or less the same size as any of the competitors . In this regard the 911 has lost one of it's characteristics and many seem unhappy about that .

Even if the maximum width of the 992 is not much different from the 991 widebody versions, the 992 is wider at the front and middle too. It is a more "square" shape and this creates the impression of XL size.
Having said that, I saw a 992 last night in Agate Grey with the Sport Design package and it looked very nice. The front of the Sport Design is similar to the 997/991 look and at the rear the number plate is not as low as on the standard car. These differences together with the darker colour give the impression of a much slimmer car.

Man, you have everything to anything at hand, it seems ... I trust you have already compared the weights of all rims available to your GT3 with the mags from Manthey, right ? Anyway, thanks for sharing all the info (general compliment not related to the wheels) !

Modern 911s are gigantic compared to like the previous air-cooled models. I have my Exclusive parked next to my Turbo 3.6 side by side at home and I got 1ftx1ft tiles on the floor so I see the difference in size every day
It is one reason I passed on the Speedster and bought a Fiat 124 instead. And I would still much prefer to find a 89 Speedster.
Yes the ass of the 992 is not much wider than a 991, but as you said, the front and middle got really bloated now and it just adds to 'bulk'. 911 used to look like it was shrink wrapped over the internals, now it doesn't feel like that anymore. It looks 'fat' to me now.
I inspected a 992 with Sport Paket in Agate grey and I liked it (more). The new 911 is colour sensitive and the Sport Paket hides some of the bulk.
Sitting inside you can see the extra width. It is like sitting in a limousine. I wonder how it would feel on narrower roads. That's a minus given that the 911 has always been a B road king.
There was a GT3 RS near the 992 which didn't look much smaller, however.

I had a 992 4S as a loaner recently with PDDC, RWS, etc...though you note that it is a big car (for me anyway as my 981 is more or less a shoe box), the handling / turning on twisty roads is superb and feels just like sitting a smaller car...

GT cars are wider than regular carrera...will be funny to look at final product
GT3 will be like the Carrera and RS will be like the Turbo . Large !

and, so , what ? ... Don't want to be mean, speaking of sizes, I mean, look what those cars are capable of nowadays...when I had my 944 S2 in the early 90s it accelerated to 100 km /h in 7 seconds flat / top speed 240 km/h...a 964 RS was a monster (whom am I telling this, holy moly!), now, nearly 30 years later, we have Porsche cars, where a top speed of 280 km/h is at the lower end, where a historic rear tire size of 225 is smaller today than the width of the front tires of current models...times on the Ring are well below 8 minutes...I guess what I am trying to say is that I regard this increases in size (currently, still) as a good move to improve the capabilities...and safety...

I thought we discuss the width without the side mirrors?

Carlos from Spain:To me the 997 "felt" the same size as the 996, the 991 on the other hand felt noticeable bigger than the 997, the 992 over the 991? .. not so much really.
I saw a 992 Carrera S today, driving towards me. Some sort of slate grey color. Looked very good, better than expected. This is the first time I saw the 992 from this specific "angle" and I have to say the car has a lot of street presence, like a supermodern 911. The front looks much better (and modern) from that angle and the rear (fenders) looked very wide as well. I liked it.
