    In for pre delivery checks then mine tomorrow, sorry about the quality, I only had my phone with me when I sneaked into the workshop

    No it's flat black, I was torn between the basalt and being driven crazy keeping flat black clean, but in the end since metallic paint is now a cost option rather than included free on all UK model 911's, I let the Pounds500 make up my mind

    The car really works in black, I recently changed my order to basalt from silver. How's the weather in Durham? my son has just started his degree at the University.

    Weather in Durham is beautiful today, but I don't have the car yet! I hope it lasts until Thursday when I plan a drive through the lake district for lunch, except perhaps Scotland I cannot think of anywhere better to drive it

    Agreed, you are very fortunate to have some of the best roads. (unlike London)

    Congratulations. Regardless of the price, solid black looks better than basalt when cleaned and shone -the challenge is keeping it that way!

    As to whether it arrived on time it depends upon the schedule, ordered in May, told October build in August, tried to get factory collection, told factory collection was not possible as factory were too busy, told on 5th Ocotber it would be built on 8th October, it was and told delivery would be about 2 weeks, told today I could have it tomorrow when PDI was done and tracker was fitted!
    6 months, faster than my two kids I suppose and no more expensive

    Ok thanks JohnA sounds like you got the car when it was due so congrats mate ,i have a long wait til December build so hopefully register it early Jan05

    SO what do I put in the CD to pick the car up with (I may not sleep much tonight so I need to occupy myself).
    What about, Black Cadillac by Springsteen, or Mr Bad Example by Warren Zeavon, Copper head Road by Steve Earle?
    I cannot think of a Porsche song, listening to the sound of the engine I suppose

    Thanks Joost, he's doing Business Science although there seems to be more partying than studying at the moment.... funny thing is, I promised to drive my car up to Durham on its arrival (ages to go yet). Thanks again for the thought
