    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

Exactly, that is my question. Any news on when Porsche ups the power in their own engine to where some of the other group brands are with the Porsche engine??

Thanks Whoopsy I guess your point is it has more than enough power as it is

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

On the Cayenne turbo topic there is apparently a squeaking issue with the PSCB brakes. Quite some chatter on RL about it. Has anyone had this experience. My turbo order goes to lockdown on Oct 1 and I am Seriously considering PCCBs as an alternative but have always thought they were overkill for a SUV

It will be the same thing on PCCB.

All my PCCB squeaks. Be it the 918, GT2RS, Exclusive, 911R, Cayenne, etc. Heck even the steel on the GT3RS squeaks.

It's just the nature of the pad material used by Porsche. The only time they don't squeak is when I push it on the track, so when cold they always squeaks.

That was the new 680HP version.

A few years ago I had rode on the previous generation 570HP Cayenne Turbo S at Paul Ricard, sideways like that the whole lap. I called my dealer to place an order the moment I got off the car.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

I had the squeaking issue on my 2009 Cayenne Turbo S, but none on my 2016 Cayenne turbo, and none on my current Panamera turbo. Back in 2009, I found that if I braked hard a few times, the squeaking would go  away.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

funny that this comes up ! I just drove a Mk2 3RS and the PCCB squeaks terrible that I actually think something is broken. TurboS zero noise since km 0. Wonder if the RS has different pads - but she will bring it surely to PC to check. So far I only had noises on steel - never on PCCB. Any other experience here how to get rid of it ?

That’s what my dealer advised. Take few exit ramps at speed and break hard. Sad to say, my PCCB still squeak.Smiley

I guess to be a Porsche your brakes must squeak. Frank, you sure you own a Porsche?Smiley

You exhaust is too loud hence you can't hear the brake squeaks Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

In a way, it's just the compound that's the problem.

If the brakes are used hard and got some temperature in them, they don't have any sound, say on a track.

But light usage doesn't generate enough heat and they would squeak. A few repeated hard stops will generate the heat required to quiet them down but later after a few wear cycles it will come back.

My theory is that the compound has a rough edge once worn, and those are what make the noise. But with heat the pad became a bit malleable, 'flatten' so to speak and the pad surface changed to a flat surface and voila no noise. Once they are cool down, the flatten surface started to wear off and the peaks and valleys returns, pad surface became rough again and noise comes back.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

Ok guys, but there is apparently a specific problem with the PSCB,s that is new, has anyone experienced it. Assume that not too many people getting the straight Cayenne or S will option PSCB,s so really only applies to turbo buyers who don’t go for PCCB,s. Thanks again.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

We had squeaking on my GT3 with steel brakes  and my brothers GT3 with PCCB (although much less on the car with the steel brakes).  Porsche insists it's normal, especially for the Ceramics.  My father in Law has a 458 Speciale  and the ceramic brakes on that car squeal like a pig being slaughtered.  It's quite embarrassing to be driving around town in such a car and then having to hide your face every time you approach a light.  Again Ferrari says it's normal.  The only thing that helps, it's taking a high water pressure hose first thing in the morning when the brakes are cold and spraying the brakes to get rid of any residue.  This solves the problem for about 2-3 days, which leads me to conclude that its some sort of residue build up.  Haven' tried that with the Porsche's since  we sold them both since.

Same procedure works on Porsche brakes as well.  My PCCB's squeak after several days of driving.  When I wash the car I make sure to blow out the discs with my pressure washer and the squeaks go away.

    Re: OFFICIAL: Cayenne Coupe (2019)

So, that’s the true reason you wash your cars that often? smiley

Interesting topic and I also don’t know the true reason behind that but repeatedly breaking hard definitely solves the problem... that is, from a higher speed downwards and not just in front of a red light

Congratulations . The coupe is the best looking SUV from Porsche . Surprisingly you can fit an open baby trolley in it when you can't in the Cayenne kiss
