Whoopsy:Timing should be pretty good now, most of the people that wanted to sell have already done so, the current price should be the lowest it will ever be.
Exactly. This is what I had been waiting for. I do think they might dip further before coming back up, but this one was just too good to pass up. When I get delivery, and I get a chance, I will report on the Touring vs the R.

Brilliant news! Congratulations sir!
Congrats! Superb spec. I went with GT Silver as I do use the car a few days per week and did not need the attention the stripe attracts.
Will be interesting to hear your thoughts.
The SMFW distinguishes the car from all other GT cars from the moment you turn the key. I have not done enough km in other modern GT cars to pick the more subtle differences.
Enjoy
crayphile:DJM48:Thx guys.
A 20 year car I think.
I agree. I was very sorry to miss out on an allocation, so beyond excited to have acquired this today. Every conceivable option and not driven (delivery miles) :
Congratulations, beautiful car, what a great choice.
Are you planning to drive it? (I know, stupid question but considering it has delivery miles only on it...).

nberry:Lovely car. Will you continue with the RS order?
Thanks . The GT3RS is a very different beast, so I will definitely go forward with that.
BTW I saw a 992 C4S in Lizard Green being prepped for delivery on the day I went to inspect the 911R - it looked fantastic. The rear is growing on me particularly if one views it from a distance. I am tempted. I did not get a chance to look at the interior but I am thinking Truffle Brown rather than a default black.
I’m glad you’re staying withe the RS. You won’t regret it. It’s an amazing car.
Lizard Green gets a lot of attention. The color just pops unlike any other car I have owned. That said, not so sure with a truffle brown interior. Don’t think too far outside the box.

I’ve been meaning to report back on this issue for some time but not got round to it. The question being is the R playing mind games with motor journalists and owners making them think its special because of the restricted numbers or is it really that much better a package than a Touring - the “poor man’s 911 R” or consolation prize for non 918 owners / dealer butt lickers ? Here is my take. The Touring wins hands down on engine sound - its just a no contest with the R. On start up the R feels more special because of the single mass flywheel and all it entails in terms of sound and rattle. However, the much deeper growling sound from the Touring’s engine is much more evocative and aggressive during all on road driving situations. The gear change on the R is more precise and slick and ultimately more satisfying. To me the R’s clutch pedal is slightly stiffer than the Touring. The R is lighter and feels it under all circumstances. Steering on the R has much more of an old style light front end, wriggle in your hands feel than the Touring which I for one prefer. The weight and steering combo to my amateur level also translates to more precise handling on the road for the R. The front of the Touring has the 991.2 front lights and is the better for it as opposed to the .1 style on the R.
In the final analysis, all things considered, the R is the clear winner
Gnil:I am jealous I notice that the two WP RS still don't have their visible carbon hood. How come ?
They're in Australia, perhaps you've missed that...
The carbon side is upside down.
