    997 - Adaptive Sport Seat

Ever wondered why the 997 Adaptive Sport Seat option seems to be pretty expensive? Look at this picture and you might understand. And you'll be surprised to hear that it seems to work flawless.

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat

It's pics like this that have me worried that a 4000 lb 911 is not far off in the future .

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat

Wow!! it looks like F16 seat

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat

I'm amazed how so much technology is sitting underneath our ass.

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat

Any info on their weight compared to the regular sport seats?

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat

RC , is the problem with the memory switches on the left door will solved soon?
I drove a 997S +adaptive seat in Imola track and in the rights turns that damn seat moves itself!
my solution is to memorize all 3 memories to the same value ....
do u think that the new door panel is retrofittable?
do u think that PAG assume that it was their error permitting warranty ? I think no ...

I think the seat of an F-16 is less complicated than this ones. F-16 are rigid, not flexible. The only thing that is there is the ejection mechanism and the survival package... :P

I'll be at the factory on Monday and this is one of the issues I want to ask about. I think the best solution (and less expensive one) would be to "block" the memory buttons while the car is moving.
A quick fix would be to program ALL three memory buttons to your preferred setting, so the seat can't move when you accidentally press a button with your knee.
I really don't understand who was THAT clever to position the memory buttons in that area but it surely was a very dumb thing to do. I almost lost control of my car when I drove the 997 Carrera S for the first time because the seat started to move backwards at a speed of 160 kph in a curve(!). Lucky me, I had both hands firm on the steering wheel and I was able to slow down immediately. It came very surprising, this is why this is so dangerous. When you know about it, it doesn't really pose a threat anymore.
Anyway: I STRONGLY recommend to use the quick fix I described earlier to be sure that no more unpleasant surprises can happen. At least until the final fix will be available.

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat

Wht is wrong with putting the buttons on the side of the chair, or -the 997 already having a center consloe computer- put it there?

Good question. I don't know what happened during development but in my opinion, the position of the seat memory buttons is a design flaw. And a pretty serious one.
And did you ever drive a 997 Carrera/S with a Cayenne key attached to the same key chain? I wouldn't recommend it.
This is another issue I want to discuss.

It wouldn't look as "retro" then

Seems a good enough reason to go for the standard sports seats to me. They seem a big improvement over the last ones !

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat --- Necessary?

They represent added weight and complexity and $.

My notes indicate I'm planning to spend about $5000 more on __seat__ options alone.

My BMW has every adjustment and inflatable bladder possible and guess what? I adjusted the seat once and basically never touched it again (except for the seat back).

That's why I'm wondering about my need to get cars loaded with options as far as this 997S purchase is concerned.

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat

I have never liked power seats. Give me Recaro SRDs or Recaro SPGs and I'm happy.

Damn, my electric memory seat never moves that fast after my wife has driven the car!

The positive side is, I don't lose control of the car.

This was my rationale also when ordering my 997S. I also have a BMW and with all the adjustments available, I've adjusted it only a couple of times when I first got the car 7 months ago and have never touched the settings since.

My wife and I are the only drivers in our household and she will most likely never drive the Porsche since she can't drive a stick. Hence I think the manual adjustments should suit my needs.

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat or GT3 seats?

Is is possible to order GT3 type seats now for 997???

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat or GT3 seats?

no ,because Gt3's seats hasn't airbags inside .

    ciao

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat or GT3 seats?

another pic for the adaptive sport seats enjoy!

Re: 997 - Adaptive Sport Seat or GT3 seats?

How much weight it added on ,when it compare the Adaptive Sport Seats VS normal Sport Seats???

The problem was actually the moment of surprise at that speed. If you don't expect it, you get the hell of a scary moment. After I understood what happened, it wasn't that much of a problem anymore, especially since I have no use for the memory buttons and I programmed ALL three buttons to my standard setting.
