987 Boxster roof lock automatic?

Does anyone know already whether the 987 features a completely automatic roof? That is, does you still have to manually unlock the roof or did the Boxster get the same automatic lock from the 911?

I assume that it is now fully automatic, because you can open it during the drive (<50 km/h).

Actually, I was in Paris and sat in the new Boxster, but the roof was down and therefore the lock not visible.

I asked tis on boxa.net

The brochure states you can open/close up to 31mpg - same as my 996. So this would infer a non-manual operating hood. You dont want people undoing hood clips on the move !

You still have to unlock manualy the roof. Sorry. Same as the 986.

if the manual states that it can open close at speed, it is 99% likely that the roof will be fully automatic.

Yesterday was a short test of the new Boxster S on German television. Nothing too interesting. But there the roof lock was shown.

Yes, it is a manual one as before on the 986. (The outer ring seems to be in alu colour now.)
And yes, you can open it during drive at speeds below 50 kph.

I am somewhat sorry. I hoped it would get the 996 automatic lock which would have included that you can remote control the roof.

That's a big surprise.

I wonder then, they say you can open the roof whilst moving, can you close it? I remember my g/f used to have to use both hands to lock the top on my '01 Boxster. That could prove interesting......

Sure you can close it too while driving but if you need both your hands, then I would not recommend it. I guess it's cheaper to make the roof lock not automatic.
