We posted several times on the 997 forum that the 997 Carrera and Carrera S Cab are to be shown to the public around end of Nov., beginning of Dec. The first presentation at an Autoshow should be in Detroit in January. First 997 Cabs should make it to customers around early spring 2005. Again, this has been mentioned already several times on the 997 forum.
Regarding the 997 Turbo: don't you think that launching the GT3 AND Turbo at the same time or launching the Turbo BEFORE the GT3 would be a strategical mistake? Especially since Porsche needs the GT3 for homologation purposes?

The luke warm response to the 997 has hastened the arrival of the 997 TT. I suspect many buyers are holding off until the TT is introduced. If it's performance numbers are not substantially better than the S, then the TT will also be in trouble.

So let's take an unfounded rumour to argue that it implies poor takeup of the 997. Then let's suggest that Porsche will bring out a 997TT that has poor performance vs the 997S.
Builds the post count up but hardly value added...

There are a lot of rumors around that say that the next TT will look totally different from the current 997 Carrera (different headlamps, different rear etc.). It would spoil 997 Carrera sales if they released the 997 in 2005.
My guess is 2006... Around Aug/Sep (officially MY 2007 then).

The 997 GT3 Cup has no street approval, it is a pure race car. I'm afraid the difference between the 997 GT3 Cup and the upcoming 997 GT3 street version will be much bigger compared to the difference between the 996 variants.

Guess the new GT3 is going to be quite a challenge for porsche. the S is strong (355hp) and quite sporty (LSD etc), already heading into its direction. So they will need at least 400-420 hp (not much leeway there on that engine if it stays at 3.6), more agressive looks (and the cup would show the right direction) as well as PDK (which it will certainly get). There's got to be some really strong incentive to go for it... (PCCB as standard for example ??)

The 997 GT3 will have around 45 HP more than the Carrera S and around 50 kg less weight. Of course it will look more aggressive.
I doubt the PCCB will be a standard option.

Well, I guess if the TT comes in 3.8, then the GT3 should come in 3.8 as well, given that it's (more or less) the same engine without turbos. and as the GT3 Cup has just come out as 3.6 again, I believe its improbable for the TT to be at 3.8. (unless they take the 997 engine and supercharge it).
