    NEW Car and Driver 997 Carrera S - FULL TEST -

    Hey guys, i just scanned the new November article in Car and Driver on the new Carrera S, really a decent article... seems like the usual rederic about the new carrera S, but their test results are apreciated, and WOW did they drive the crap out of it, they obtained a 0-60 of 4.1 seconds... haha and a 12.6 1/4 mile! As well as a measured .97g on the skid pad!

    4.1! Damn! and a 12.6 quarter mile! Wow, those are impressive numbers for a regular 911.

    Note they launched the sh*t out of that carrera S

    but i would to if i wasnt the owner... hehe

    I heard one of the editors is a
    ex-racecar driver.

    Thats why Car and Driver are always
    able to pull numbers far beyond our
    expectations

    I suppose anyone could do this - with enough experience and training.

    I remember no magazines obtained factory claims on the Corvette Z06. GM sent out instructions how to achieve those numbers...

    The only factor that is not obtainable in those reviews is the stress you put on a car performing those numbers. An automatic-gearbox drivetrain won't be put under similiar stress!

    Guys whats wrong with the attatchment files
    Everytime i click them it asks

    You are right, guess there is a bug. You can also download the pics by right-click and "save as" on the image.

    As much as I am impressed with and like my 997S, These numbers seem way too optimistic. JMHO.

    Clutch is wear and tear item, warranty shouldn't be expected to cover it.

    end of clutch... heh or even an axle ( i doubt the 2nd) but yeah they mentioned they wouldnt do a clutch drop to a car they planned on keeping due to a clutch burning out or whatever, although im sure if you only do it 1 time or something it will be fine... not like porsches are drag cars either

    997, does it have an event data recorder on steroids?

    I'm not sure, but doesn't the 997 have the recorder which records and archives all the information?

    My M3 has it, used for warrenty "protection" they know exactly what you did to the car and engine during it's lifetime.
