Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

Need SOMETHING to keep me occupied until it arrives !!!

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

The European versions use the clear ones - not sure if that helps you!

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

Yes - but I'm in USA so I need to order them from somewhere ?!!? THANKS

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

they're out for sure. Orderable for sure. I even think they USA cars are delivered with them. Could be wrong.

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

They are available, your dealer parts dept can order them or go to Carnewal.com and order them.

    John,

if they are available in Europe they are very likely available in US, too! You guys tend to get about everything once it's offered around here!

Obviously they are, and 25 bucks is not even that expensive, I'd say!

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

I have clears for the 997, email me if you need them.

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

I just got mine today from Suncoast Porsche. Now all I need is a car to put them on!

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

Are the European side markers clear or clear smoke? I seen both versions and I am not sure which version is the right one.

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

the euro side markets are clear, the clear smokes are the clear ones sold in the usa, so there is a little difference.

Re: Are clear side markers out yet for the 997 ?

    Hi Guys,

I'm a novice - can i install these sidemarkers myself or should I ask the dealer to do it?

    Thanks,

EASY INSTALL - will take you 30 seconds

    DIY

Re: EASY INSTALL - will take you 30 seconds

this job takes 5 minutes to do. and can be done by anyone.

the side markers are held in by a lateral pin, and then there is a wire, which is also held in by a snap-in pin

very easy to do. i would equate it to pumping gas.

The owner's manual actually shows you how to remove the side marker. If you do not have your car yet, you can find a copy of the owner's manual at www.renntech.org

Ordered mine from Eric at bumperplugs.com - THANKS

    THANKS !

Re: Ordered mine from Eric at bumperplugs.com - THANKS

There is something more to it, isn't it? I though that in the US they were obligued to function as directionals, and in EU they should just be reflective and therefore need not be orange? Something like that? So in the us you should keep them connected to the wires, whilst in EU not necessary? I am guessing a bit, but there was something to it.

    Don't think so

On the 996 they side markers just came on with the headlights and did not function as blinkers. So They are connected to the headlights and are more than reflective, but just not blinkers.

From the CA Vehicle Code: PCAR Sec 911 clearly states

PCAR (911) If you have a cool new Porsche and you hate the amber lights feel free to order clear ones and replace the lame ass orange ones as required by section 25100 (a)
