    Factory Collection Times

    I have just been notified that my black 997S will complete production on Friday 8th October, but the dealers will only be able to confirm this on Monday 11th, then they will seek a date for factory collection. Anyone know how long I am likely to wait, or will I be able to go asap?

    there are grand tours twice every year, but they do factory collection all year round.

    you should be able to collect it at the factory a few days after it finishes

    I think you'll be able to pick up your car very soon but it really depends on how your dealer (and maybe Porsche) handle deliveries to non-german customers, especially regarding registration, insurance and license plates.
    But I don't see much of a delay since you're from the UK.

    Thanks for the Info, I will arrange to be free next week. Apparently the insurance (up to 10 days)and temporary plates are part of the package, the car is then registered as new on arrival in the UK. (Not a personal import)

    of course, otherwise, no one would do it especially not USA customers, who would end up with a grey market car thats unsellable haha

    I was told October production in early September, but then nothing else until I was given the completion date (8th Oct) on Monday 4th October, not a great of time to arrange collection, which I am told cannot be arranged until the car clears production and the dealer will not be able to confirm this until Monday 11th Ocotber. If it is only a few days as I am told here, then I hope to pick up on Friday 15th, other dates are diffciult for me given that I will have to be away for three days to collect the car.
    The dealers say that obtaining production dates is a little chaotic since the production run is new, especially for RHD cars.

    John,

    I picked my car up from the factory on the 27th November last year and was very lucky with the weather. One word of warning, watch out for the sudden downpours and lack of vision on the Autobahn!

    Make time to enjoy the full hospitality and also drop in at the dealers across the road.

    Thanks for the tips, I am now hoping for collection 25th-29th October, I was unable to get a slot on 14th or 15th, but hopefully the car is now manufactured (it was due off the line today)

    Sadly my dealer now tells me there is no factory collection available at present and the factory will not hold the car until there is a date available, the car is built so delivery is about 2 weeks away .
