    997 Introduction in MiddleEast (SA)

    Hi Guys, I went yesterday to see the new 997 in the flesh. I can confirm that the pictures do do it justice. There is a certain aspect of the car that can not be shown in the pictures. It is no VW beetle for sure. Unfortunately, the test drive car did not arrive with the two cars they got. I saw two 997's both S model one in black with -20 mm suspension / another in Silver with PASM and tip tronic.

    I got to hear the car and sit in it, hopefully the test drive will be next week. The sound was really great without a sports exahust even!! I wonder how my car will sound, I'm sure the neighbours will hate me

    A question I have is what is the sticker looking kind of thing in the highlighted area?? RC - any clues?? it looks like its covering something!

    It is a protective sticker, something the 993 had too... I guess it protects the rear fenders from stone chips. Talking about retro style...

    I see - that makes sense... I thought they did not totally remove the protective covers heheehe.. It was a nice introduction - they had an open buffet - people from Porsche Middle East but I had more information and knew what the car had more than they did

    They seemed quite confused to me but I guess they just wanted to get sales orders going !

    That sticker makes NO sense. I saw it a month ago on the release here. It's looks only. Remember the 993 rears flared out much more extreme than this 997 does, and there's just little chance that the tiny flare is going to get chipped. Looks silly IMHO.

    It got chipped during testing, this is why they introduced it again. Tiny flare? Are you sure you really saw a 997 LIVE?

    I should get it sometime in January (end of Jan) or early Feb..

    WHAT?????!!!! No short shifter??????!!!!!! nononononono... you have to get this option.. it'll make your whole driving experience much better.. Believe me maher go 4 it.. no regrets. I see a GT3 in the background... try the shifter on that thing and you'll know what I mean.. better yet see if anyone in the east coast has a GT2 or GT3 and ask them if you can try it.

    Ok - you are who I think it is
    I've asked before about the short shifter and some people did not encourge me! they said shifting effort would be increased and at cold start, it would be even harder till the oil heats up. However, let me test drive the regular thing first then I'll compare it to the GT3. I'll call you soon.

    I was offered a GT3 for a comprable price, I wanted the 997 - same reasoning as RC. I'll get a GT3 later

    hi muhri,i hope you enjoyed the launch , btw what is the price of a 997s in sa?dont worry for the short shifter,you can install it anytime..and i really love the look of the -20mm...

    I would have enjoyed it much more had they had the test cars there as well! Anyhow, we wait this week to get them and then I'll be satisfied. The base price for Carrera S is SAR 305000 without any options and the standard is Sunroof, Home Link, Cruise Control, and Auto dimming mirros with Rain sensor - It comes with Leather on the dashboard as standard as well but not full leather as in everything else. That's around $81,300. Mine has $10,000 worth of options. Mainly due to the sports exahust, Sport Chrono package and Full Terrecotta leather.

    all middle east including lebanon get the same pakage coded c32 ,that include all you listed as standard exept the leather dashboard ,its not even available as an option alone ,you have to order full leather(around 4000usd over here) to have the leather dashboard. and good luck with your wait..
