SportCarGroup:Loved the pic of the car at the parking lot Enjoy the new toy! Great upgrade
Exactly my thoughts, phenomenal pic, phenomenal car.
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
UV is a very interesting color but only when the car is very clean . So perfect for you
As soon as the car is dirty , the color becomes bland and looses it s effect .
Those photos are beautiful and you must be thrilled with the car .......

lexs4:Yeah I don't expect I'll have to worry too much about it looking bland when dirty
I'm loving the car, just wish the weather here would cooperate, going to be -7C or colder for the next couple days. Fingers crossed the weekend is warmer.
Careful with your Cup tires then...

Well finally time to paint correct the purple beast. First off the initial strip wash. I use 3 soaps for this step. The Adams is my usual ph neutral soap I use for maintenance washes. It and the AMMO boost go into the wash bucket. The AMMO soap will neutralize any road salts on the car and help prevent water spotting. Adams is just for lubrication. Finally the Citrus Wash, which is a stupid name as the soap is actually basic, is used to remove any existing waxes or sealants that may be on the car. Also shown is the pressure washer and water filtration system I use.
Before the actual wash, of course start with cleaning wheels and tires. Use rubber prep to remove the annoying silicone goop the dealerships put on the tires.
Next after rinsing off the car foam it with the Citrus Wash. This is the one time I believe foam serves a purpose. Letting it dwell on the paint a little longer allows it to better strip off anything on the paint.
Next washed off the car as you would normally and rinsed it off. Left the car wet and sprayed on Iron X to remove any iron deposits that may be embedded in the paint that washing won’t remove. Don’t want to polish the paint with little pieces of iron stuck in the paint. Rinsed off the paint again and then clayed the non-ppf sections of the car. It’s amazing how much crap is still on the paint even after all the washing. Tonight I’ll let the car dry completely and then tape up the trim and start polishing tomorrow.
Oh and yes I have a serious obsession with car care. Even have specific buckets for each step

While I don't share your passion for cleaning the car it is super interesting to see how many steps to the wash you can do for different purposes, I had no idea. Thanks for sharing!
You make me feel guilty though, your car before you wash it is already cleaner than mine after I get done washing it lol. I think I need to take some notes...

Ha, no need to feel guilty, I feel guilty for not driving my car as much as you drive yours.

I am sooo glad that our laws prohibit cleaning cars in driveways / at home... Thank you for sharing your "obsession" - very interesting read !

Buy a car with a matte color and you'll see how complicated washing/cleaning can get. I barely wash my E63S because it is a pain in the ass.

nberry:If you enjoy the work have at it. You do understand that according to your standards of cleanliness it will be dirty once you drive it around the block.
Matte colors need a special cleaning agent, lots of work, not pretty.
