Also , surprise over here , the car will only be available on leasing  ( just like they did with the GT2 RS )  Maybe this is only a rule for Switzerland ( ? )

Same thing in Germany with the Speedster (not sure about other models and of course I am not sure whether it is a general policy but at least a buddy of mine was just told that he can only lease the car).

    Maybe to stop speculators? Smiley

When I asked about a 918 lease, they said impossible. The GT2 RS lease was much more convenient, had an offer for 330 EUR per month, 100k EUR initial payment, for 12 months, buying it afterwards. Was actually quite a good offer (not from Porsche Financial though).

Yes, I think so. Though I understand you can lease the car only via Porsche Financial. Double win for Porsche - at least on paper, may be in reality some potential buyers are not interested anymore then Smiley

The lease is only for 6 month at 0'0% interest . It is only to stop speculation

Maybe different terms per model / country etc. - Speedster may be more of an object of speculation compared to the RS due to the limited production number.

Maybe ... the good thing is that Porsche is addressing the speculation issue . Probably it started to screw up their model planing , not knowing exactly anymore how many to produce . They want to satisfy most customers and they probably like a bit of speculation , but if that ' fake ' demand gets way over what the market actually wants, it will affect the image and sales of the model

    Re: OFFICIAL: 991.2 GT3 RS (2018)

The speculation was good in the beginning because it created a hype about GT models but in the end, Porsche seems to have realized that this whole thing pissed off a lot of loyal customers, who find their home(s) somewhere else.

The lease thing is actually a good thing, 6 months...then you can buy the car.

@ Gnil and RC: fully agree kiss It was about time that Porsche takes care of the "grey market" - things got out of hand a bit lately, especially when some OPCs started to "co-operate" with fake customers.

Wellllllllllll, yes, no, perhaps ...everytime planning starts for the new driving season (like NOW Smiley ) I feel like "improving a little bit" what my budget permits and in particular, when I see a low mileage T-car with AWS, LED headlights and bucket seats etc., I am .... kind of ... tempted....Smiley

Incredible how Porsche just floods the market. Thousands and thousands of GT3, GT3RS in all versions. And even 2500+ GT2RS.

These cars are mass production cars these days. No problem for buyers who love the car for what it is. But for people who expect low depreciation there will be a HUGE disappointment (and I am not speaking of rising value...). At some point all these old cars will sell at very low prices. Porsche built far too many given the rather small group of enthusiasts who really want to own one. Honestly, who wants an "old" 991.2 GT3RS in September 2019??? It is kind of an old car already...

Not in the UK for the GT2RS, but I have just been informed that I have got a GT3RS allocation. Not clear whether they will let me do PTS though or the Weissach pack - probably not.. In which case I might end up with exactly the same spec as @nberry SmileySmiley Smiley. Suggestions welcome for alternatives.

Joking aside, I actually really think that Porsche did that to "compensate" for the WLTP disaster and the possible loss in other model categories. Smiley If true, it was a clever strategy, at least for the moment. For flippers, this is a disaster.

Yes and no . I fully agree the market is getting way over flooded and prices should come down a lot . I do not see how they can sell all the 2nd hand cars . Just not enough people . For the moment , prices are still like they have always been , normal deprecation , exactly like it was with the 996 , 997 . At least this is what is happening in Switzerland .

On the other hand, these cars are still the some of the very best cars to have . Not much comes close to the tactile and gut feeling you get in an '' old 991.2 GT3 RS '' , expect maybe the Performante and the Pista .  So , still one of the best car to buy ( on a '' normal'' budget )

some cars will be very special with unseen options yet like colored carbon but rarity will stop at that level because they will make as much as possible GT3RS and I don't see where it is wrong.

the one who purchase that car to think not losing much on resale is the wrong buyer.

You are 100% correct Smiley However, we both know how many humans (with the money to also buy the car) can evaluate the driving experience and get to this conclusion... That's why they oversell by a factor of 5-10x, if you ask me...
