    Re: Sport pipes available

Is your order for a 997S or base model?

    Re: Sport pipes available

XLF is only available for the "S" model, at least for the time being.

No. Porsche Sport Exhaust (option = XLF) produces better engine sound and has nothing to do with exhaust tips.

    Re: Sport pipes available

    i see

Actually, for the 997, PSE includes the dual twin exhaust tips (in stainless, I believe) with the inner tip on each side larger than the outer tip. It's also my understanding that PSE is only available on the 997S.

Stainless steel exhaust pipes (option X54) were just released as an option--could it be your dealer is confusing this with PSE? I'm pretty sure PSE is not available on the base 997 Carrera (at least that's the case in the US).

    Re: Sport pipes available

Are u sure about that poursha, the PSE has a different look to the standard S twin pipe.(The inner pipe larger bore than the outer)I prefer those tail pipes, have seen them on c4s or turbo i think.

Are you sure your dealer didn't mix up a few things?
Latest information still indicates that the sport exhaust is available for the Carrera S only.

I am sure today he confermed that it will not come with the double pipe tip like the carreraS

Here's a pic from the Porsche Germany site (I got mixed up--actually the outer pipes are larger):

    Here's the link:
    http://www3.porsche.de/isapi/german/deu/accessories/911_997teq/item.asp?id=231&kat=Sport

and a thread with pix of the US catalog (says tips are chrome):
    http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=42742&page=&fpart=1&vc=1

The tequipment catalog talks about how the exhaust note varies as throttle input changes, and no mention of a dash switch. Could be like the BMW exhaust system which has a baffle that moves when you accelerate hard and makes the exhaust louder. RC, any info on this?

    Re: Sport pipes available

Thanks for that poursha, yes u are correct the sports exhaust does have different tips ,another reason to perhaps spec it i thought the car sounded really nice anyway when i test drove it,but i guess PSE will enhance the sound

    Re: Sport pipes available

Harry, I start to get confused now: did your dealer confirm that the sport exhaust is available for the 997 Carrera or did he just confirm that the exhaust PIPES of the Porsche sport exhaust look different than the ones on the Carrera S?
This is indeed true but I guess it is pretty easy to exchange them with the original Carrera S pipes and judging by the looks of the PSE pipes, I guess this is what I'm gonna do.

OK Cristian I order the sport exhaust for the base model 997
He got the order confirmed for the Dutch importer PON
He told me the sport exhaust for the base model comes not with the twin sport pipes
The twin pipes are an additional order for the sport exhaust basemodel 997

    Re: Sport pipes available

    Now I understand, Harry. Sorry.

It is strange that the dutch importer confirmed the sport exhaust for the 997 Carrera, I really hope you won't get an unpleasant surprise when the car arrives.
I'll check for it on about two weeks, this is where I get a chance to find out 100% for sure.

I was also surpriced that I was able to order the sport exhaust.
I was already looking for aftermarked sport exhaust
