I'm having a hard time believing there will be tons of customers prepared to spend 250k+ on the next Turbo generation, not sure how will this work for the Carrera when adding options Smiley

If it was a Ferrari I'd understand, but for a 911 that barely gets any big jump in power/torque from the previous generation with a redesigned interior and more toys (options) that barely cost them anything is questionable Smiley

Unless the majority are clueless and have no idea that they're paying for all these extras, which is basically the same car, same engine, same interior with different engine setup and handling Smiley

The way they keep on raising the price, the 911 Turbo's fate could end up like the Audi R8 sales which doesn't look good at all.

I think this is what's happening. Many Porsche buyers today are "first time" buyers and don't have the same perspective as  the members of this forum.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

well till very recently, there was 0 inquiry for new 992 at the dealer here. yes, 0.heart

as much as new customers can take, very expensive sportscar is not as basic as a Porsche, it has to be exotic and and exotics are Lambo, Fefe or McLaren...

You can buy plenty of performance and top road manners from BMW M and AMG these days at better value for money than Porsche. A second or two less on the circuit are irrelevant for the bulk of buyers.

The Porsche cachet is not what it used to be with the thousands of SUVs in circulation so why pay more?

Porsche price-wise are being caught in a hard place between the top of range premium brands and the exotics.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

Porsche pricing really has gone insane since the 991 generation.

I just config-ed my Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid, Base MSRP is 213k CAD, I didn't even tried and my total is 272k.

That's 30k more than my Cayenne Turbo S, which I bought 30 months ago.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

It certainly looks like the normal range is overpriced and the GT range is underpriced.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

Not to mention depreciation is hard to swallow... most people won’t make the difference between a 70k 991 and a 150k 992. New Prices go up but second hand market can’t keep up. So instead of loosing 50k you are now closer to 80k on a base carrera wich is nuts for most buyers.

When you look at other brands like Bmw and Mercedes, prices are up but rebates are also going up. It’s not that hard to  get 15 to 20% off MSRP. It’s impossible on a porsche at least here in Belgium

This is only valid is some countries ( UK + USA )

Over here , the GT models are now nearly as much overpriced as the normal range

Trend is for buyers to keep their cars longer. Recent survey shows in the US, dealer inventory is rising. People aren’t seeing value in trading for newer model. The luxury market is not immune from this trend.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

Porsche prices have become ridiculous. That's part of the reason why I do not have a Porsche in my garage after 15 years of continuous ownership. Like amazon wrote, just look at the used car market, prices are steady for years while MSRP are exploding. The GT line is still palatable as well as the Macan line, for now. But clearly Porsche realizes the GT demand is huge and is cranking up the prices there too, just wait until the resale value collapse as they produce many more GT cars... because if you think people buy the GT just because is it a good car and not because it is a good deal, think again (although they are the minority here, they are the majority in the real world).

But wait , the super cheap Tayacan Tesla killer IS coming (yeah right)

Who said it is going to be super cheap? It just shouldn't be much more expensive than the Tesla S...

I agree, Porsche prices went up a lot and entered super car territory. I am pretty curious how much Porsche is going to charge for the next 992 Turbo S. I get the feeling that the base price will be over 205k EUR in Germany. Ouch.

It's the Lambo ordering excitement and waiting for its arrival that made you forget what a 911 even looks like Smiley

I'd say they'll price it somewhere between the current Turbo S and Turbo S Exclusive Series - $258k.

    $200k gets you 570S and $240k 600LT

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

Taycan base price in Germany is rumored to start slightly below 100k EUR (99.x).

    Tesla S 100D (not P100D) starts at 108k EUR.

    Tesla S P100D starts at 145k EUR.

A Jag iPace is $70k base and $86k for a well optioned one... A Taycan for the price of a Jag????

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

Yeah, given Porsche's crazy pricing lately, and the initial demand for the Taycan, I don't see Porsche putting a "good value" pricetag on the Taycan, and especially after options.

It goes up in value and entitled me to get all the GT cars I want which also goes up in value Smiley

But no seriously. For all the technology that goes into the car, and the performance, the 918 is a great value. A part from a few fasteners from the corporate bin, everything on it is bespoke and brand new design. Porsche invested a lot doing that program and their profit margin isn't that great either on the car. But the technology that goes into the car got amortized to all future production cars. The touch buttons now in the whole lineup, the hybrid and electric system went into their hybrid lineup and Mission E, tire technology went into all the GT cars, steering wheel is in the whole lineup also. Personal, most of the 918 team are now on the Mission E program.

Under a million Euro which is cheaper than the other 2 lesser hyper cars from McLaren and Ferrari, both of which are above a million.

asking price and selling price are 2 different things. 1.1M at Sotheby's auction in Paris was not really an astonishing value...till release date in 2015 and today, we are living in a free money world...try to sell a 918 at next crash and you will realize where the real value of a painted steel box with a battery and 4 wheels isSmiley

and VIP program doesn't exist anywhere except in NA...because they were not able to move them at that time...Smiley

remember that carrera GT was 300,000E not so long ago. I would be very careful with current car value. it is already starting to cool down and this is just the beginning. Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

Carlos, you mix a release price tag at that time and the consequence of PAG changing the incentive during their selling drama.

PAG always punched above its league and at much lower price and the 918 was not respecting that anymore.

Remove the special program for US and Canada that was introduced during the sale struggle and the good value just disappear. Again, this provilege program is not everywhere. And it also depends on the first come first serve. If you have limitation of 100 cars...well early fanatic will get one.

Just buy a 918 tomorrow, enjoy its maintenance and get ready to sell a kidney after warranty is gone. It is still very new car and we are still in free money world.

For Nick, it is a good deal but just remove it , he can still get whatever he wants as long as he pays for it. So, 918 is a good deal is just a case by case study. 918 owners here still pay premium on special cars...

Not mixing anything, the end result is what matters. Once again, we still dont now how it was a bad value for Nick (he as an owner, is the one that said it wad good value, you said it wasn't), the car conserves the value better than a 991.1GT which you said was better value, and on top of it, got the benefits of the VIP which included a 911R, 991TTS ES, and GT2RS among others, all of which he could sell right now for a profit.

You see the money side. I see the perf for the money, I have no interest to see the financial.

Nick is a particular case within the 918 owners and the NA group that still holds this privilege. The rest of the crowd has a different opinion on this operation. 1 case is not a rule.
