If you are enthralled by the sculptural presence of the car you have no choice: silver.
Any other color is, like chooseing a mini van, simply personal preference.
It's strange, in the metallic paints, Porsche only offers dark colors or silver.
A "champagne" color, or other silver with a slight bronze tint would be nice.

Rich, I found these pics on the French Porsche website www.porsche.fr They have a Paris Motors show special. I think the cobalt blue one is in the invitation-only section as I haven't seen any other pictures of it on the web.
Hopefully, you should be able to get in to see it (& maybe take some interior pics?)

Sure hope we get the chance to get up close & personal. Porsche GB have mailed our details to Porsche France and we're taking our order confirmation letters so fingers crossed.
And yes, two cameras packed, spare batteries, memory sticks and films so plenty of real shots to post on my return.

As much as I liked cobalt, I don't think it suits the new Boxster. Looks too "girly" to me.
Just got back from Chapelgate having finally specced mine - I am staying with arctic silver with ocean blue leather and metropole blue soft top. They had a cobalt 996 "pram" and I am definitely cooling on cobalt. There's Pounds1,000 saved - paid for the 19" Carrera "S" wheels I've just added!

Dreamcar, that's the same combo that I've ordered. I've been a cheapskate though and only gone for the 18s.

Why didn't you order the GT silver instead of Artic silver. To be honest,more than half of the boxster driving around have this artic silver, too boring for me (used to own a artic silver Boxster)?

I know every man and his dog has arctic, but I had to draw the line somewhere costwise. If I'd gone for a special colour then either the 19" wheels, PASM, navigation or full leather would have to go

Cobalt Blue is a great color but is getting too common of a shade for my tastes. Just about every hot sport coupe/sedan has about the same shade available....

list goes on and on. It's a color that should be offered but should just be a regular metallic color instead of a special color.....it's not that special anymore....and definitely not worth $3K.....IMO......

I totally agree. I've whinged enough on this forum on this subject - drab "standard" metallic colours and nice metallic colours at 3x the price!
Even if money was no object I still wouldn't pay that money for a paint job that adds very little to resale value (according to my dealer, anyway!)and nothing to the driving. A Boxster is all about the driving experience and it is these options where I put my money, with the exception of the super cool 19" Carrera "S" wheels, which I am sure don't make the drive any better but have much more visual impact than any paint job.
