    Whoopsy:

The RWS and other stuff doesn't cost 17k euro to produce...................

The RWS was pretty expensive to implement because of the mid engined setup. Porsche had similar (cost) issues with the 991.1 Turbo S when they introduced RWS, at first they wanted it as an option but the development team insisted on having it as a standard option. Reason was cost, so they raised the base price of the 991.1 Turbo/S.

Ask your buddies at Porsche, they will confirm. Smiley

Lambo is just jacking up the margin.

A little bit yes but the facelift wasn't cheap for them, the changes are pretty substantial and the WLTP/particulate filter certification was very complicated and costly in this case. Engine and gearbox are at it's power/torque "end".

Speaking of margins: Lamborghini will put out as many Huracan Evo on the road as possible as far as I heard, production numbers will be raised, dealers will get much more cars and allocations. I assume that this also means that some good deals could be available along the way.

Oh...a fourth Lambo model is coming as well...a GT Coupe. Will be interesting. Smiley

A GT Coupe meaning front engined? A modern Islero?

Back to the cost / quality issue: I would be willing to pay a few thousands more for a Cayman to avoid lower quality materials here and there; in the hidden places as well.

The lower quality items you are speaking of will be corporate VAG stuff, that are shared among all brands haha

Doesn't matter if its' Porsche or Bentley or Audi or Lamborghini or even Bugatti.

    Early pre-production cars, don't worry.

Pre-production car pictured for press release?? heart Why would they do so? But even so, wtf?? Why such a brand like Porsche will release cars for press photoshoot with such f*cked up rear alignment in first place?? mail

They had to take photos of these cars, didn't they? Smiley

My point is, if you say that this misalignment is only on pre-production cars and production cars won't look messed up, so why would they show this rear mess for public by releasing the pictures of the pre-production cars into press?

Have to agree, it´s like a kitchen manufacturer presenting pictures of a front side with misaligned panels and pretending the finished product at your home will look different. No matter if the pictures are produced by a professional photographer or by a rendering team on the computer, for me this is a no-go especially since you put so much effort in lighting, reflections and material accuracy and then you f*ck it up on these elements.

That said, a shutline on a curved surface that changes its convexity is always tricky and something that doesn't really communicate design quality. BMW and Mercedes have done the same on some of their cars, for example the shutline of the bonnet/hood and those look cheap and unfinished. Porsche has always done a great job with their shutlines and put a lot of effort into that.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

Well, Porsche had to the rush the 992 introduction.....................

It was initially planned for Geneva.

Re good/bad shutlines: the hood to front fenders interface on the Audi A5 are pretty impressive, imo.

We are going backward. The first 924 I saw w/ my father (1977) had the same switches, turn signal and wiper arms as my 75 Scirocco, which was just a VW Rabbit in a nicer body.

They should change the vents design/position on the cab, it doesn't work well with the new slim rear lights, it looks too "massive" on the cabriolet, especially with the "hump". Smiley

I couldnt agree more. But - shouldnt they change that plastic vent on all cars? I mean its part of the Porsche history, but it just doestn look right anymore. Especially as other manufacturers are having glas tops where you can see the beautiful engine. This plastic looks like on a VW Polo

Well - they are ashamed of its look since a while then.

But my point is - why adding that plastic piece on top of a 150k€ car? Isn't there any more stylish way of doing this? And yes - the 4WD cars have a little chrome on top of the plastic SmileySmiley

992 Cabrio indeed tad disappointing from the first pictures...have to wait and see it live.

Gentlemen, on a related matter, could anyone of you comment how noisy a 991 Cabrio is either the roof up or roof down at Autobahn speeds compared to the Coupe or other Cabrios? Thanks!

Roof up you can hardly tell any difference to the coupe. Roof down you can easily travel long distabces even at speeds significantly above 200kph. I am huge fan of the 911 convertible Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: 992 Carrera Cabriolet

Agree 100% Hard to tell the difference with the top up, and great also top down at speed while using wind deflector.

The 991 automatic wind deflector made a huge difference IMO in the convenience and usability of the cabrio.

    Yep, sounds about right.

I was driving with my wife at over 300 kph with an open top two summers ago (991.1 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet) and while the noise was infernal (our ears were hurting), it was fun (over 40°C outside...you can imagine...super warm air circling inside the car...wonderful feeling).

Up to 200 kph, the open top ride is quite comfortable in the 991 Cab (no matter if 991.1 or 991.2) but you need to deploy the windshield and close the side windows.

Actually, from an open top driving experience point of view, the 991 Cabriolet was the best convertible I ever experienced at any speed.
