Porker:God no, ruins it all. Makes me fear for the more performance oriented versions, this design could easily get overly fuzzy/busy.
I have the same worries. In order to differentiate, they will risk to overdo it with the GT3/RS and make it look too aftermarket.

I agree, they should leave the aerokit stuff to the GT models...

Lars997:See - I like it a lot. I think it adds a lot of appeal to the car. I like those painted plastic pieces in the lower bumper area and I like that hideous spoiler. It's kind of cool
The painted pieces in the rear bumper are functional, they sit slightly off the rear so air flows behind them.

"What is Porsche Wet mode? How the new Porsche 992 stops aquaplaning" (Car Magazine)
► Wet mode is new for Porsche 992
► Reduces aquaplane risk and skids
► Could come to rest of range, soon
The new Porsche 911 is here, and alongside the extra power, slightly new design and upgraded interior, Stuttgart’s new flagship brings a totally new feature: Wet mode.
Designed to make the new 992 less sketchy to drive in wet conditions and reduce the risk of aquaplaning, Wet mode is brand new to the Porsche range, and we expect to see something similar on the new 718 Cayman and Boxster twins, and Panamera in time.
But what actually is Wet mode, and how does it work?
Wet mode is primarily designed to reduce the risk of aquaplaning on damp roads, and the system has two parts: detection and reaction. Porsche says Wet mode uses acoustic sensors behind the front wheelarches to effectively listen to the amount of spray, and if it goes over a certain threshold the car will suggest Wet mode be turned on.
Significantly Porsche’s system doesn’t use the same sort of optical sensors as automatic windscreen wipers, as it’s not necessarily reacting to rain – just standing water on the road.
When activated, Wet mode uses the 992’s existing stability systems in unison to make the car more manageable and easier to drive. PSM, PTM and adaptive aero all join in to help the car stick to the road, with the rear spoiler deploying at just 55mph and the cooling flaps open, too. What’s more, if you’ve got a 4S, more power is transferred up front to the axle.
And while no power is cut from the engine as such, Wet mode does make the throttle flatter, torque build up more smoothly, and generally calms down the way the revs build. Porsche says it can be used in the snow, too.
‘Wet Mode was developed to provide the driver with consistent support in wet conditions,’ said August Achleitner, Porsche’s head of the 911 model series. 'It does not restrict the maximum power of the engine or limit the top speed, and should therefore also not be used as insurance for driving too fast in very wet conditions. Instead, it should be seen as an assistance system in the truest sense.’

EnglishManInNY:Not a fan. It looks too aftermarket
There is a fine balance between a wing that is too small and one that is too big. This wing look a tad small and does appear aftermarket.
Stress is man made.

4trac:DaveC:The 930 had a ‘wet mode”, it was activated by the accelerator.
Hasn't the Ferrari manettino always had a wet setting for many years now?
That's correct.
I don't get the hype about this "new" Porsche feature at all. All what they've done is to install some sensor, that will tell you to switch to wet mode. As if I can't see and feel that on my own, don't need a sensor to tell me to do so.

Apparently there is a good chance the 992 GT3 will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of the original 996 GT3...
Porsche 911 GT3 (996)
The 996 GT3 was unveiled at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show. The first-gen GT3 shared the new design of the 911 996. Penned by Harm Lagaay, it was the first new 911 that was completely redesigned, and carried over little from its predecessor. Major design changes included a more aggressive front end with larger headlamps, a sleeker body, and a more raked windshield. Design and aerodynamic features exclusive to the GT3 included slimmer air vents for the front bumper, a front splitter, new side skirts, a revised rear bumper, new wheels, and a rear wing.
The 996 GT3 was powered by a 3.6-liter, flat-six Mezger engine. The naturally aspirated engine was based on the unit used in the 962 and 911 GT1 race cars and used the original air-cooled 911’s dry-sump crankcase, with an external oil reservoir.

Yes it did. 👌💪
Looking at how 90% of the drivers out there on public roads drive in rain or on wet roads, I think the wet mode should be mandatory.

I'd rather say IAA this year...
Showing the 992 GT3 at Geneva could very likely "offend" a lot of (potential) 991.2 GT3 RS buyers.
You never know though...
