I doubt that will be the actual name. Using the name Turbo makes absolutely no sense for an BEV car, and especially bad for a driver's car oriented brand to use a technical name so wrongly. There is a million other ways they can name the top performance version without incurring in such a misnomer.

They also coined the term Targa top in 1966 but that doesn't mean they can call a regular coupe with a sunroof a Targa all of a sudden for marketing purposes.
Doesn't make sense to me, Turbo is not a proper noun or a broad refernce, it is a technical term that when used in a vehicle's model designation describes that the vehicle's engine is turbocharged 
if we are talking about a hairdryer or blender with a turbo button that is fine, but never seen a car with turbo in it's designation that is actually not turbocharged, unless Porsche considers the Taycan an electrical appliance instead

Carlos, Carlos, your problem is that you are thinking like the rational man of science that you are.... you need to think in the much less literal way of the marketing specialist, who play in the world of dreams, of brand history and emotions, of impossible feats of performance... there, does having an EV named Turbo feel more normal now?

We think Turbo is the turbocharger.
That's what it's suppose to be for the longest time
but now that the whole 911 range is turbo-ed, it's sort of pointless, unless of course it's the general public where they associate Porsche 'Turbo' as their top of the line car. Then Turbo is not a turbo anymore, it's a name plate
and Porsche is using that name plate tonnage their top of the line EV, makes perfect sense really.

I guess you are right, I need to loosen up and be more realistic, wonder if it will have a Turbo button like a hairdryer? and will it make a wooosh sound though the speakers when you press it?

Three interesting tidbits, of those that have placed an order for the Taycan:
- first year production has been reserved already
- more than half never owned or do not own a Porsche,
- reservations come from Tesla owners more than any other brand.

And which is what I had been saying. The people that have Tesla right now are don't have a choice for a nicer car, they had to get it. Now that Porsche is in the game, of course they will jump ship. Well until say Rolls Royce make a EV, then a bunch will jump again.
Just like when the Prius first arrived. People don't have a choice, now there are many many much better hybrid cars.
The Taycan do not eat into Panamera sales, they are completely different cars, one's EV, one's not. Taycan only eats into the EV market. Well that market will grow too, bit the initial bite will be big against Tesla simply because of the existing demand. But eventually it will stabilize and Tesla's sales will grow again, but so is everyone else's, and at that time, it will be based on whoever make the best product, or the best value, or the best prestige. Monopoly no more.

Not sure about the Taycan not eating Pana sales...I can imagine people walking in the OPC for a Panamera (or even Cayenne) end up looking at a newer, fresher, tax friendlier Taycan. Specially in Europe.
They are complete different cars, but so was the Cayenne when it first came out...

Of course there are some existing Tesla owners curious to purchase a Taycan. Several of those people probably keep the Tesla and add a Taycan to the stable.
What you forget is that Tesla is pumping out 100k S and X per year. Porsche plan to produce 20-30k the first year and now some North American boss is saying that several of the reservation holders are Tesla owners. So, let's say that they have 5-10k reservations from Tesla owners. Do you think that is many based on how many X and S on the road?

Thing is that there are so many existing or presumptive Porsche owners who are clueless and will today say that they want a Panamera and hence is not among the first batch of reservation holders. When the Taycan is available at the dealerships for a test drive I'm certain that many of those Panamera customers will change their mind... And probably some 911 and Cayenne customers as well...

Some of you guys are not thinking clearly. You guys are just thinking from the narrow EV perspective, thinking EV WILL eat into convention car sales, that won't happen fro a long time.
It's funny to see Tesla fanboys can't face the mirror. Fact is, for the first 2 years at least, Taycan IS eating into Tesla sales, simply because Tesla has the monopoly on the above average EV market, Taycan is going for the middle and the top end of that sedan market. Porsche did considered and studied the impact of Taycan to the Panamera. They are not Tesla after all, that don't think things over.
Taycan is a smaller car. Taycan is EV. Target audience is already different. 5 series don't eat into 7 series sales, but they do eat into E class and A6s.
The impact, will be marginal at best. Taycan is on a build to order basis with a long wait list for the first couple years, people simply cannot walk into a dealer to get one, unlike Panamera or Teslas.
Panamera has the hybrid version, which also get tax credit, so that base is covered.

If anything the Taycan will eat into the V6 hybrid Panamera only, which for Porsche is only a stopgap version to offer while it had no EV's anyway, and does not account for most overall Pan sales either.
But it won't impact much the other ICE versions, those customers paying willing to pay for such engines do not want a EV, and the few that do, it is as a extra vehicle not instead of.
Meanwhile with the Taycan they will be capturing a bunch of new customers from other brands that may never thought of owning a Porsche, opening up their customer base even further.

In the Belgian market the hybrid is the only new Pana model you see around. Ice versions are very very very rare thanks to tax penalties. And even the hybrids are getting more expensive due to new legislation. I guess it’s the same story in other European countries?

Need to push for economies of scale on the most expensive components including batteries, motors, and inverters. That can only be achieved through development sharing with its sister organizations including Audi, and Bentley, if the Volkswagen Group, decides to keep that august British nameplate. Consider an ICE vehicle, its fueling system is magnitudes less costly than that of an EV. Even the engine of an ICE is less costly because components are shared among nameplates and across companies.
