    Re: Audi R8 V10 Plus (2016 model) - Review (updated Feb 13th 2017)

Most debit cards in Germany have a 1000 EUR limit, if you're a good customer, they raise it to 2000.

You can't pay a car with a debit card but also not with a credit card over here (due to the credit card company fees).

Only bank transfer, which makes sense.

Even my Amex is limited (although it says "unlimited" Smiley), maximum one time payment I can make is 70k EUR (not that I need it Smiley). The other credit cards (Mastercard, VISA) have a monthly 10k EUR limit (usually, for regular people, it is one salary or so, most common limit is 3000 EUR per month in Germany).

base debit is 1500E in France but will also be based on your account funds...depending the fund you have. the limit is 300000...

you can pay anything...anywhere, just depends on the shop...

we are only limited with withdraw but the amount per day is suspicious if reached indecision it is several thousands of euros per day...

I bet they take checks. It’s not cash and similar to a transfer since all accounts are known. Just saying. I pay mostly by phone. Don’t usually take my wallet with me.  Apple Pay, Sams scan and go (my favorite) even my gas is now an app called BPme.

No checks in Germany anymore because they are a risk for the merchant (payment isn't "guaranteed"). There are only a few exceptions in certain businesses but as a private person, you are basically screwed if you want to pay with a check.

Safest method for merchants in Germany is: Debit card with PIN code. Money goes directly to the merchant's account and cannot be "recalled" by the buyer.

cash payment is 1000e though...and you are not allowed to carry more than 10000 cash with you without declaring it to customs...

less and less accept cheques now...but you can still use them even if the % is surely very very low...

A customer of mine offered me the license plate X-FY1 (X would stand for the city I live in) today for my Performante... .

My daughter says I shouldn't do it, "too much" but it is tempting, especially since most people won't even know what it means.  indecision

Amex are totally limited, they just don’t tell you it is. They use a multiple of the average of the monthly balance of the previous months and they will let go though one unusual purchase once and a while. That said when the numbers go up, they get really nervous and they put me a hard cap that I had to negotiate with them and show them some proof of accounts and real $$. This has been a real problem in the past as some hotel/travel bills can really add up.

Smiley Here in Germany, there is no market for license plates, just "favors" you can call in (if you're lucky).

Problem is that every registration office handles things differently. Even with the license plates per se, there is an issue: Some regions offer smaller and better looking "sticker" license plates for cars like the Huracan, others don't.

I had to return my super short GT500 license plate number because they didn't want to give it to me for my R8. Smiley

Another possibility would be X-HP and a random two figure number like X-HP12 or something like that, would probably be less offensive than X-FY1. Smiley

I would stay away from a custom plate on a Lambo, things like that on such a car that is already very flamboyant can easily become too much and give the wrong impression and image.

    XXX-HP640

I think you can even choose the first part in your hometown.

(three letters with Ü could be a problem for the automatic licence plate recognition at Brenner or other systems, could be an advantage or disadvantage in some situations )

Too long, also not possible in my region (Land). Smiley

I will probably get X-HPXX...short, not too short and not too flashy.

I could also get X-RC20 but then everyone would recognize and fear me. Smiley Smiley

Just kidding...not sure what I want but X-HP1 would be perfect (not available anymore Smiley).

Waste of money? They don't cost me anything. 🤗

    HP  = Huracan Performante

    FY = F.ck You

    😉

Most German license plates look like this: XX-XX1234.

Way too long and it isn't easy to get short license plates because you cannot actually buy them on a specific market.

There is an option at the registration office to get a specific plate but most interesting combinations aren't available and Germany doesn't have so called vanity plates.

I’m with Carlos on this one. Even the appearance of trying to get a custom one is foolish and with a car like that shows a huge lack of taste. Less is more.

Btw - here in he US many stores can scan your Check right on the spot and verify funds are available. No issues. Not that people use checks much but they have no restrictions like cash for large purchases. Cash makes no sense because a wise credit card selection can get you miles or cash back or discounts. You name it. I go for the initial offers which include big initial cash rewards and then close the account to after the next offer. I have zero loyalty except to the $.

The license plate LM-AA XX was very popular here in Germany, until the city Limburg forbid it. Smiley

Check with a German to understand what LMAA means...

I was joking of course, simply because the FY1 was available and I got it offered. Smiley  Even if I think that most people wouldn't really understand what it means, it is not really necessary to do that, especially in such a car.

I had X-C911 on my 911 Cab, so I wanted something nice for the HP as well.

Haha my German is well enough to understand the LMaA reference... I don't know, but that reference always has a bit of a comical connotation to it, in multiple languages. FU doesn't have that connotation in my understanding. Anyway, either of them doesn't show much class imo, and especially when driving cars that already radiate a certain image to many people, it is not a message I would want to send. I think neutral ones referring to the car name/brand/horsepower are more suited. I can imagine that you would like to have something special on the number plate, especially for a special car!
