    Yes, exactly!

But remains the other problem with Mc Laren if you track your car: They request a pre-check and post-check before/after every trackday if you want to retain the warranty on the car! Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

My opinion is that too many people ordered new 720s believing that they would lose very little money or even make money they were caught up in the febrile atmosphere surrounding certain exclusive Porsche models which led to Porsche producing ~5000 GT3RS.1 models a huge number for such a specialist model, even in May this year when I bought my 720 it was conditional upon me signing an agreement not to sell it for a premium in the next 6 months heartthis is quite illustrative of the atmosphere in which they were flogging them.

In the old days even as recently as 2009 Porsche sold 62 997GT2s to the UK market,(1260 worldwide) anyone who wanted one could buy one in reality but of course because the cars depreciated normally the real demand for such a car was low.

So lots of people queued up to buy the 720 and were graciously given a slot and quite simply I think a high proportion of these people couldn't really afford a normal depreciation £250K car and as soon as they realised there was no premium they bailed leading to a massive over supply of used cars. In the UK there are 55 720s for sale out of production of about 300 units.

The lowest price 720 in the UK is a Luxury launch model at £186K and there are plenty at around £200K with low miles I would be surprised to see them dropping much below £150K for the following reasons. Production of the coupe is coming to an end so in the UK we have around 300 units which is about twice the number of 991 GT2RS so quite limited.

The 570 model must prop up the 720 so how low can they go and what differential will be maintained.

The third element will depend on how well Mclaren network maintains and looks after their cars and customers. The 720 is such an incredible car there will be decent sized pool of car enthusiasts who will want to own one at some point to experience the phenomenon.

Service is a huge issue. The closest McLaren dealer is almost 100 miles away in southern ca traffic. When I owned Ferrari's and their only location was 100 miles away, when I needed servicing they would send a tow truck and truck it up to the service facility free of charge. Nevertheless that still was a pain in the ass. Ultimately Ferrari opened a dealership in San Diego.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

My McLaren dealer would send a tow truck... There might be a fee but AM and Ferrari charge me a fee also these days.

Nick, you are lucky that in the past you had access to cars with very little depreciation and that you still do now. But that’s basically only 2 cars: V8 2 seater Ferrari and the Porsche GT cars. And the reason why they don’t depreciate is because you can’t buy one (I know I could not get either at MSPR if I wanted, not even close). You cannot blame McLaren for a normal depreciating car.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

read it first from a Porsche fanatic, the depreciation curve even for GT cars will be back faster than you can imagine...stock market quake and voila! the base customers will still be interested in these cars during that dark financial time...and you will find GT cars collecting dust on showroom!

I don't buy cars that are subject to huge depreciation. As much as I love cars, I don't let emotion supersede financial sense. I love my hard earned dollars more.Smiley

    Exactly .

That includes Porsche GT cars . The 991.1 Gt3 RS ends up having the same depreciation as the precedent series ( after the first craziness when people thought no one would get one )

991.2 GT3 RS that are currently being advertised above list price do not move .

People betting on the Touring to speculate also don't manage to sell them .

Ferrari is the same with the 488 . They deprecate at normal rates .

They are way too many sports car on the market . It is just simple math . Impossible to absorb all the second hand ones + all the new ones that keep coming out one after the other . There are just not enough people who want to own one and flippers are getting more cautious . Once all the flippers will stop .

PAG pumps cars at good pace including the GTs...

991 will probably end with the production number, all combined, from first RS of 1973 to 997 RS and all version in between Smiley

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

According (purely) to the reviews I've seen, seems like this car has quite a bit of bite to it. I'm not surprised it's turned out to be a lot to handle for some people.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Fortunately there are lots of Sennas for sale, it's easily replaceable

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

My neighbor, that guy who owned a loud 12C Spider and made his neighbor move because of that, he ordered a 720S Spider. Now he was at the presentation in Woking(?) and he was very disappointed with the car. I've seen the Spider on many photos and in videos and I think it is a beautiful car, so I was surprised to hear that. When I asked him why he is so disappointed, he said that...hold your breath...it is difficult to enter the car. yes His 12C wasn't much different and this was always bothering him. I entered the 12C and the 720S Coupe and I don't have a clue what he is talking about???

Same guy who told me he dislikes the Huracan Performante because it is too tight inside, he doesn't fit well. He is not taller than I am but has a beer belly, not that much though. Weird.

The Spider doesn’t have the dihedral doors of the coupe, which are cut into the roof for ease of entrance and exit.   Could envision how this becomes difficult for the less limber.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I Like it more than the Coupe and the Doors are opening really high Up so its easy to enter. Dunno what the Guy is talking about. Would get the Car in a heartbeat when the Tax Situation changes in Austria.

Nah... its rumored that there will be a change in the future

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

Kingsley Coman crashed his 720S on the German A95. Apparently he fully accelerated after a 80 kph speed limit and lost control of the car because it was a bit wet. He survived the crash unhurt, the car is basically a wreck, damage over 200k EUR.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

I would normally say stupid young inexperienced footballer as I did when Ronaldo stuffed his Ferrari in the Manchester Airport tunnel but in this case I have some sympathy, I nearly lost control of my 720 under acceleration at about this speed in the wet, I had it in Sport mode for power and comfort for handling (I have no idea of either of these settings makes any difference to what happened) the back end slewed out EXTREMELY quickly, I have a lot of experience of high torque RWD courtesy of my GT2 (but it never bit quite so hard, the Porsche stability/traction systems kill the power much faster) so I know the safest thing is to shut the throttle VERY quickly and let the nannies haul you straight..... it worked this time for me but bloody hell this is a beast with a bite !

Mid engine car vs rear engine, it snaps much quicker by design..........

Easiest to control those slide outs at that power level would be the Ferrari F12 I think. Never quite driven a 700HP 911 yet.
