    991 GT2 RS Cup or Clubsport

    Hi,

    Porsche had recently been testing a modified GT2  RS  at Monza.

    Anyone having information about this car?

    Like what do you need to know?

    Basically a Cup car with a GT2RS engine.

    Not built for any race series, just a track car.

    Not officially released yet. Likely to purchase one it will be directly from the factory and probably with a driving course included.

    Many thanks for your answer.  Any info about technical spec ( weight, tire size, torque, hp, rev range, type of gearbox, etc.). Also how many Porsche is planning to build.

    A Cup car, a GT4 Clubsport and a GT2RS had a 3 way and produced an offspring.

    Taking the best out of each.

    GT4 is cheap to run and it is a great track car...for its entry price.

    I like it...... please tell me Porsche have commissioned a run of Secan/Marston aerospace intercoolers for this so they don't have to rely on the water sprayer

    But just over half the price of the 935 which is fundamentally the same car.  And while it may cost more than Cup, I think it is less expensive to run (street PDK gearbox doesn't require expensive annual service like Sequential, lower revving turbo motor requires less frequent refreshes, etc.)

    I didn't think a Cup was that much less.  I'd certainly prefer to drive a Cup, given the choice...

    Well it's a much faster Cup car.

    One graduate to this from the Cup car. If one can't even handle a Cup car, they have no chance in this.

    Some people want to drive these cars on public roads...

    A guy I know here in Germany bought a 997 GT3 Cup, turbo charged(!)/tuned it (he claims 700 hp but I think he is lowballing Smiley) and succeeded in getting a street homologation for this car. 

    Nuts...

    That's the point there is and Porsche know it and have used it before I just don't understand why they won't use the intercooling tech available especially when they charge so much for the car - nice pic BTW kiss

    For those who didn't know the limitations of the race turbo 993 motors was high intake temperatures which were particularly important as they lead to cylinder head failure,  Porsche commissioned a run of special intercoolers from Aerospace manufacturer Secan these were around 20K a pop back in 1996 ! these coolers could maintain intake temps within 15C of ambient which meant full power even in hot conditions.

    It’s all about money. They skimped on something available but expensive to preserve their epic margins. Bah.

    They've been relying on stickier tires to set the fastest lap times and brag about it  enlightened

    Durability has degraded, but as long as there are customers out there that are willing to spend over $170k on a Carrera S, why not continue the trend ? angry

    Looks like I was (mostly) wrong on this, the CS gets new different larger intercoolers.... they are not Secan/Marston quality, the fin density is no where near as high but it is still a good development

    First ever race is done for the GT2RS CS.

    Looks like it's about 3 seconds slower than GT3R around Spa.
