    The problem is that since my first car in the USA, a long time ago, was a sporty manual 3 series coupe, going back there would feel like a failure...

    Fyi I found that the Maxi-Cosi Rodifix AirProtect fits well in the back of my 991.1. Booster cushion seats from Halfords also fit, but the mini arms are a bit in the way of the seat belt fasteners.

    Once the children are more than about 7 years old the seats typically can't extend high enough in the rear seats of any recent Carerra, due to the proximity of the C pillar. It just won't fit without pressing on the shoulders of the child. We ought to use the 15-36kg ECE group II/III seats if we can here in Germany. A booster isn't really ideal (see numbers videos on NCAP site). So...either use a booster which all the tests say are inferior or use the front seat for the child seat, (adult and other child in the back?) or use the other car......

    FWIW there is a bit more clearance with the MaxiCosi Rodifix but after child is 8/9 that doesn't fit either. I have Porsche, Maxi Cosi and Roemer seats 15-36kg, but for my 992 I will take a look and see if a booster in the back will do for short trips (ie is there enough side protection for the children's head) or we will take 2 cars..not eco friendly but after skipping the 991 entirely as a daily driver mainly because of this I need my 911...

    Actually, Mercedes made its way. It is cool again. BMW is dead, I don't see any new cars anymore (might be different in Bavaria). Audi never made it out of the VW image. Most new cars I do see are Mercedes and it doesn't matter if AMG or not.

    Have to agree - Mercedes have really turned in the UK (perhaps the Lewis Hamilton effect??) and seem to offer a range that appeals to the younger generations now. Perhaps though, that's simply to do with the change in buying habits - the millennials want everything instantly and have little concept of saving to buy something. With PCP deals aplenty I'm not entirely surprised - however it does seem many manufacturers produce consumable cars nowadays..

    I live in Bavaria...BMW is still cool here...same goes to Audi but Mercedes caught up quite a bit.

    For what’s written about the 991 child seats - ditto 992. I just tried this week all the combos front and rear and regardless of the marginal improvements they claim in head room/seat height its still the Porsche 2/3 on the front seat or boosters/maxi cosi for the rear. The new Porsche seat protectors are super though. So we are staying a 3 car family for now.

    We just turned off the air bag atbirthandquit using the seat at 5.  Would never put a child in rear w or w/o child seats.....
